Steering Wheel Clunk

Contributed by Jim B.

As seen previously on this NG severe clunking in the steering column can be a loose part just under the horn cover.

If you get a sharp clank when you hit a bump listen carefully to see if its coming from the steering wheel itself. Remove the horn pad by removing the two #15 torx screws on the back of the main arms. Lift the horn pad and look for the heart shaped metal plate. It should be secured by three rubber links. I found one of them broken, another weakened and the third intact. One self-tapping screw used to replace the broken link and the clank is gone!
