stock jack that came with the 92 explorer xlt 4x4 is stuck "up". first time using this POS but it went up fine. now only will go down half way but still goes all the way up. tried it loaded and unloaded, whacked it with a hammer, jiggled it, wipe the shafts clean, wd-40, and a big pair of pliers to no avail. feels like it get jammed at the halfway mark. seems to be welded together so i can't dis-assemble it. don't believe damage was caused by over loading, was only used to change a rear tire on a dodge neon.

Stock Jack sucks! Don't bother yourself with that POS. Just get yourself a new one and save yourself a headache.

What is that cylinder thing anyway? I have never used a jack like that. THe only ones I am used to are those junk scissor-types that you usually find on passenger cars.

It's a bottle jack.
Mine served me well, till it died from ingesting too much sand... much too much sand.

I had the same problem and all of this white sand came out and it was stuck up too. I kicked it and and the jack came off and slammed the truck down. I threw the jack away and went to a junkyard and got another one and tried it and it works fine. I suggest to kick it!
