View Full Version : Ford Explorer 8.8 caliper question

Hi all -

I bought a 99 Ford Explorer 8.8 rear axle with disc brakes for use in my Jeep Cherokee.

Unfortunately, there are no calipers on the axle.

Are there any good (cheap) sources for new or used calipers other than the junkyard, or does every one have a core charge?

If you know anywhere to buy them online without a core, or have a set, I would appreciate the info!

TIA

Josh

What does that make my truck?? 70% Explorer, 10% Mercury Mountaineer, 5% Ranger, 5% Aerostar and 10% BII?

I have parts, all Ford, from everything....84 to 2001 on my truck :)

Where are you seeing them for $12? All autozones I know of, including their internet site, want around $35 for the caliper and $47 core.

My local autozone wants a $50 core.

TheRookie - I would still like to see your source!

You are right Josh, I just did a search for new calipers.. Damn.. You might want to try a junk yard, I know but sometimes you find a good one..
