I dont want to spring for a $20.00 code reader. Is there some way I can jumper the connectors together under the hood and hook up a test light or something?

I'm pretty sure that there is. I think there's a thread somewhere about doing this, just use the search functions. I think what you described is the basic procedure...jump two connections and the ce light blinks out the code or something.

Go to www.batauto.com and click on the codes section to the right. They have connector pictures for jumper hookup, procedure and codes. I still hate counting flashes, I hook mine up to a XY plotter to get a paper readout.
