Ok lots of us have the U-haul hitches installed so we can tow the U-haul trailers, or atleast could. Maybe something should be brought up to U-haul along the lines that maybe the hitch is defective, and thats the reason for the ban? I seriously doubt they are defective, but how many of us bought them with the intent to tow a uhaul trailer? Maybe since we can no longer tow their trailers, we need to demand refunds for all of them, and starting buying a different brand? I`ll have to check my paperwork and see if theres any lopholes or anything in it.

If you want my personal opinion, if u-haul can do something as reduculous as banning explorers from towing their trailers, then returning your hitch for a full refund sounds pretty reasonable to me.

It seems to me demanding refunds for all the explorer owners hitches would be the best course of action. Obviously they arent willing to back down on renting of trailers, , but by demanding refunds, they are going to take a pretty big financial hit.

You can raise all the hell you want, but they are just going to tell you to get bent, and have a nice day.

Well it seems the only other options people are suggesting is boycotting them, well atleast for me since I only have one vehicle, boycotting them isnt going to do squat, because I dont have anything else to tow it with. The other is a lawsuit, but no one is stepping forward to organize it, and those that are talking about it, it sounds as though it would be a tough battle. Personally I bought the tow hitch, when I rented a trailer from them, expecting to rent again, now that isnt a option. So, from my standpoint, demanding a refund of the 212 I invested for a tow hitch, tow bar, ball, and installation, seems to be the only recourse. Anyone else have any thoughts? Your attitude seems to be suck it up and take it up the a$$.

It's a realistic outlook. Your chance of getting a refund from U-Haul is very unlikely. I agree that U-haul is in the wrong, but they are also a sinking ship. If they had to refund money for every U-haul hitch they sold would be a huge blow. A lawsuit? That means someone would have to put up some serious $$$ for legal fees. Who is that going to be? Ford? What have they done yet to fix the publicity nightmare associated with the Explorer?

Ok, so we suck it up, admit that u-haul cant be beat, or bargained with, and move on with our lives. Just be glad you have a mercury, otherwise you may have a different outlook on the situation.

I wouldn't have a different outlook. I won't rent from U-Haul anyways, and not all because of this. They have less than piss poor service, and their equipment is junk. You can be positive and fight this all you want. It's your call. If you get anywhere keep us posted.
