Allrighty...heres the senario.

I just bought an 1988 Isuzu Trooper to become my trail truck so i can count on my X to take me to school on monday morning after a weekend of 'wheeling.

The Isuzu is in good condition except for the tires. I just put new BF Goodwrench tires on my X. I was thinking of putting those on the Isuzu for 'wheeling and putting the 2 fullsize spares i have for my X on the X and buying two more tires. So I have four new tires on my X and the BF Goodwrench tires on the Isuzu.

Does this make sense.

Both have the same tire size. I am also a student (poor) so I'd like to keep this relatevely cheap without sacraficing any safety. I don't want cheap tires that aren't safe.

Thanks for your Input.

bro if the BFG's you bought for the X are brand new and the ones on the Isuzu suck, go with some really cheap mud tires. Might I recommend you look up the Super Swamper LTB or Super Swamper TSL if the Isuzu is just trail truck. The remounting of all those tires would cost so much. Look for a really cheap mud tire for the Isuzu. Just my $.02

Are the 2 spares BFG also. If they are then just buy two more. It would probably be cheaper than getting four cheap tires.

Well that's what I was thinking but if he had to remount the BFG's and then mount 2 more this would be like $60 plus $30 plus the two new tires. Even then would the rims match on the X? I mean you can get a 29x8.50x15 swamper tsl for $80 a tire. The Kumho Ventrue MT runs $93 a tire for 31x10.50x15. Just seems like if this is a trail truck a super cheap mud tire would totally be the way to go and he would still have the spares for a flat tire or for next time. Again just my $.02.

don't feel bad jim, I had to read it twice and if you sir (one of the forum masters) are still confused, maybe I am not making any sense at all. I don't sound like an uneducated hick do I?

all the rims on both trucks would be the same as they came stock.

The two full size spares are the orginal ones which I was able to replace through the recall. They are like Firestone Wilderness A/T (or something like that.) So i'd buy two more firestone Wilderness A/T's and have everything mounted up.

BTY- does anybody know how much it would cost to get a tire mounted and balanced?

Thanks for all your help and prompt replies

Remounting/balance is under $14 just about anywhere in my locale. I like to only run 4 matching tires. I've had 2 different tires sets of the same tire size, that didn't mess with the 4wd. They were Wrangler rt/s and Dayton(read Firestone) Timberline at. For a trail only truck, I'd try and save up for a cheap set of mud tires. I have a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers that impressed me for the $. They work well in deep snow and snowy/muddy conditions. I bought them as winter tieres, and to help with plowing. I haven't had a chance to use them in just mud yet.
