MazdaOR 03-02-2004, 04:54 PM Screw the tires.... What happend to that truck. ITS ATTACK OF THE SWAMP THING!!!!!!!
The tires are siped, that's all.
swak6287 03-02-2004, 05:27 PM only clean part of the trucks are the tires....daanggggg.
IAmTodd 03-02-2004, 05:44 PM I hate to be the person sitting in that seat!!!

I wouldnt:D It would be FUN!!!!
And thats a kool arse truck!!!
and those tires looked pretty sweet siphed
NOTAJP 03-02-2004, 06:04 PM That's custom grooving on the tires. Sipping just makes hairline cuts in the tires tread.
Stic-o 03-02-2004, 06:05 PM And thats a kool arse truck!!!
Yeah but it's Heep!
Rob Slade 03-02-2004, 06:06 PM Oooooooo, I like those.

So, still very cool, and i dont hate jeeps just people that think since they own a jeep they can do anything......
Stic-o 03-02-2004, 06:10 PM what do you think it would cost to have tires siped like those? Probaly would not be worth it though if used them as DD.
EBInterceptor 03-02-2004, 06:24 PM Is that an old Comanche? I use to want one of those when I was 7 or 8. I can't tell what it is under all that mud!
Stic-o 03-02-2004, 06:31 PM Is that an old Comanche
Yeap!;)
99EXP 03-02-2004, 06:33 PM you dont pay to have your tires siped at discount tire. and those ARE NOT siped they are custom grooved. if you want your BFG muds to look like those all you need is an imagination and a tire grooving tool.
Critical_Level2 03-02-2004, 09:28 PM those look similar to the new bfg krawler tires
Premier 03-02-2004, 10:10 PM Yea, they clearly say BFG Mud Terrain on the sidewall. It sure would be a PITA to do that... Best tool would probably be a dremmel.
XplorerKid 03-02-2004, 10:13 PM NOOOO:eek: Dont use a dremel!!
they make special things for grovving tires. If i remember right it is soemthing that has like a tip on it that gets super hot... but dont qoute me, but i could jsut see a dremel getting away, or going to deep:eek:
Premier 03-02-2004, 10:15 PM Well, if your using something that is super hot, you could easily go too deep too ;) Either way, you just need to be careful.
Stic-o 03-02-2004, 11:43 PM after a few posts. and I found That its kinda like a sodereing iron with a "V" tip. I understand you can do a tire in about 5 mins. The tool is only about $75 bucks. You will increse traction and add tire life, as well as get rid of tire noise. Sounds like a win-win thing:D

add tire life
Removing rubber and making the tires more prone to flexing and fatigue will add tire life?
Stic-o 03-03-2004, 12:05 PM ?Removing rubber and making the tires more prone to flexing and fatigue will add tire life?
No, because a tire like a mud has such large lugs they keep alot of heat, which in turn wares them faster. By cuting the lugs in half say...it makes less heat because of the smaller lugs which makes them ware slower. This part aids more to street driving.

I've seen tools like that being used to custom cut the high floatation ag tires used on monster trucks. I'm thinking now about doing this to my tires....damn this site and what it makes me want to do to my truck ;) . Hehe that would be fun trying to explain to my dad and my fiance...but if they add life...hmmm. Anyone with Courser MT's have done this? Would it work? http://www.mastercrafttires.com/us/en/images/tires/large/courserMT.jpg
Later
CP :D
Premier 03-03-2004, 04:36 PM Oooh aaah... I like the looks of that tire.

yea until you f up your tires
I highly doubt that grooving a tire like that would increase the mileage of a tire, seeing as you're removing about 1/3 of the tread.
Even though the proper tool to groove it will only let you remove x amount of tread, and would theoretically be pretty easy, it still has to be done correctly if you ever want to think about balancing the tire.
I still don't get the pic though. How can that truck look so dirty, with fresh mud, yet the tires are clean
Ford_Racing_Guy 03-05-2004, 10:33 AM probably drove through some water or something before the pic was taken

Yeah but it sounded good! Right?
