View Full Version : Tire on Stock Rim Size Question

I am buying 31 X 12.50 X R15 PRO-COMP M/Ts for my 96' Explorer 5.0. I have a 2" T/T in the front and an extra 2 1/2" in the rear with adjustable air shocks.

Will I have any trouble with rubbing? Will I need to do any trimming? This tire size was not listed in the first thread, that is why I am asking... Also, will mounting them on my stock 5X8 rims be an issue? I really want to get a larger, more aggressive tire that is wider than the normal 10.50s that a lot of people run.

Thanks.

Mike

You shouldn't have any problems with rubbing but it varies on each truck.. Also the stock rims aren't 15x8 they are 15x7.. That might pose a problem since a 12.5" isn't really recommended on being mounted on a 7" wide rim.

I have talked to a couple of others who said this wouldn't be a problem... Would they have a tendancy to blow out?
