Ok, I apologize if I seem pushy, but organizing if second nature to me and this thread looks like it could use a little...

I'm pretty sure since Mahwah is actually privately owned land that they don't want a whole bunch of trucks traipsing through there- I know now we were pushing it with all the ones who came down from new England a few months ago (even though it was a blast). 4 trucks at the most and Mike on his damn quad is probably a good idea. Tara and I have somewhere free to sleep saturday night, but how about the rest of you who wanna 'wheel Sunday? I have no prob getting a hotel room to share instead if no one wants to head home saturday and drive all the way back out sunday, but ONLY as long as y'all are willing to split the cost!!!! (Lizard, I'll even promise not to strangle you in your sleep :D )

Meeting point is Oasis Ford, off route 9, at 9am saturday the 17th. We'll leave the show sometime in the afternoon like we always do and get some grub- at which point (if not before then) y'all should decide what you'd like to do Sunday, ok? I got a place to crash... becides, there are bands playing up in north jersey that im gonna go see friday and saturday nights where a friend of mind is bouncing, and Im sure y'all dont want my drunk ass stumbling in at 5am wantin to party more :chug:

My schedule is a bit different... Ill be heading out to Jersey friday afternoon sometime, partyin friday night... get a few hrs of sleep... then Im meetin up with some of the F 150 crew sat morning 8am at the bloomfield rest area on the GSP... should get down to e-town about 9:30 or so, Ill be going right to the show. Sat afternoon Im cuttin out towards north jersey to get my friend thats goin with me to work (the bouncer for the shows)... then continue to party till the wee hours of sunday morning... get an hour or 2 of sleep and go wheelin I guess... that is if we are going wheelin?

Where is Raceway park? Rt.9 .... isnt that near E-Town or is this the same place? (On Rt 539?)

If thats where im thinking of.. then i have a curveball- if you guys dont wanna go all the way up to Mahwah.. that place on 539 is about 20 minutes from lebenon and lacey if you wanna do some Pine runs on sunday- and its legal to be there. Let me know.. id be up for that!

539 South, Turn right onto RT 70 West... about 10 miles down the road you're in Lebenon State forrest.

If you have a map of NJ find that area.. its highlighted in green for Lebenon State forrest and in the middle of it theres a tree or something marking a "attactrion spot".. that "spot" is that huge open area where 90% of my pics are taken. well all lets make the wheeling location simple, mahwah is out, the word i got when i tried to go up there today is there are too many people up here and the local's are starting to get annoyed at it so i don't want to add to any of that mess. so i guess our only option is now the pines

Lebonon = north jersey (where doug lives)
Lebenon State Forrest = Pines in South jersey. Whip outta map and you'll see it shaded in green because it's a recognized state forrest.

Ok, i understand that people are comming from all directions here so its hard for me to post directions. I was planning on meeting at a Wawa thats 10 miles down the street from the park. Theres a Wawa and an Exxon at this intersection so i would assume thats very logical to meet there if everyones traveling (food and gas?)

Who does NOT know how to get to E-Town? Because E-town is on Rt 539. So if you take 539 South of E-town for a few miles it intersects Route 70.. that intersection is where i want to meet. (just to confuse you more- but dont panic if you look for these streets on mapquest- it seems that at that intersection, Rt 70 is a left turn and Rt 530 is a right turn- but if you turn right onto RT 530 it changes back into Rt 70 after a mile....)

Anyone comming from WEST of me... you'll probably just be able to pick up Route 70.. or you could take 206 south and turn Left onto Route 70...

Anywho, Mt. Laurel is a solid hour from me Matt. About 55 miles.

As far as coming to Lacey...that's where I live!! Where you planning to go there for a 2nd round of wheelin', or just for food, or what? From that Wawa on the cornerm it's about a 20 minute ride right to the heart of Lacey. There are a few good places to eat if people are hungry: Forked River House (bar & grille), Charlie Brown's Steakhouse, Caffrey's (more of a Gin Mil, but I'm always up for a liquid dinner) and of course, McD's, etc. And of course, people are always welcome to my place to hit the head, grab a few beers, take a load off, whatev.

Well aint that a good thing I asked. Cause I would have been driving around E-Town for hours looking for 539. Alright where is the new location for where we are going to meet on Sunday? We will prolly go over it on Sat at the car show but there might be people that are only going to join us on Sun so they need to know the correct place to meet.

ok, if go to the englishtown website, click directions, then click "get driving directions" and put in Whiting NJ as the starting city you'll see right where we are going to meet- if thats still ok with everyone.

I suggest taking 527 South until it intersects 539 (Turn Left for 539 south). Their directions do the same thing except "cut through" using 630... i didnt look at what highway it was..you'll see.

Either way you go you end up on 539 south and you can see where it intersects Route 70 on their site.

I still think thats the best place due the the gas station and wawa being within 10 miles of the park..

Umm i second the address of the wawa.. I have a choice of partying with sorority girls from ZTA at stockton saturday night and meeting you guys at lebanon sunday morning, or meeting at the wawa on sunday.. Im not sure what to do. Here's what you'll do: Go to Stockton and party with ZTA--they're always a good time anyway. Take some Advil before bed. In the morning, you'll leave Stockton and get on the Garden State Parkway heading north. Get off at Exit 74 (Lacey Twp./Forked River), and make a left at the stop sign. This is Lacey Rd. Take Lacey Rd. through the woods, past a big lake on the left, past a retirement community to a stop light (total distance from where you exited GSP, about 12 miles). Make a left at the light. This is Rt. 530. Take 530 thru the "village" of whiting. Upon exiting the town, you'll enter a wooded area and come to a yield sign. Proceed thru the yield to the stop light. This is Rt. 70/539 intersection. You'll see the Wawa and Exxon on your left.

Just got the truck back on the road... almost wiped out... the steering to just too tight, and im not used to it, along with that Im running dual stabilizers now, and not used to that either... guess Ill drive around all night trying to get used to the new setup...

I just puffed jack's tires up to 35 psi in the hopes of stabilizing my steering, since it's still MAD dangerous :( It improved a little bit, maybe that might help you too? Shoot, maybe I'll go up to 40psi and drive around for a few hours to see if that makes it that much better :confused:

Matt, I'll be there on Sunday too, but I'll be riding along. I'll have my mom's cell since I don't have one and I'm only allowed to use it for emergencies, d'oh! Well, I just got home and its 3:08 a.m. It turned out to be a great dayand we had a good turnout, only a couple people didnt show. We had about 8 Explorers out there and we couldnt ask for any better weather. It was nice to finally meet all you East Coast guys, you guys are nutz, but not as nutz as the Texas Crew:D We left the show at around 7p.m. cause we waited for all the traffic to leave. It took us about 2 hours to get up to where Explornj lives so we can start working on our cars. We ended up installing some strobes, bleeding some breaks and installing most of a body lift by about 2a.m. We are all dead tired and sunburned also. Tomorrow I am going back up to Explornj's town so we can finish the body lift.

Sorry Sk1er17 but I dont think any of us are up to going wheelin tomorrow, we are all just so damn beat after today, from all of us having to wake up so early, walking and sitting in the sun all day(every ones of us is sunburned), and then going straight to Explornj's shop after a 2 hour drive to work on three Explorers we are all pretty pooped. We thought we would have Blee's body lift done tonight but it just got to late so we are going to finish it up tomorrow. So I can tell you that me, Explornj, Blee, spas, and Lizard, are not gonna go down to the pines tomorrow cause all of our Explorers still need some final finishing up work. We are gonna finish up Blee's lift and clean up the work we did tonight in the dark to make sure everything is good. Sorry to drop out so late but we couldnt go anyway without getting Blee's lift done, he has to go back to Maryland tomorrow so we have to finish it for him. Lets see if we can plan a run for next month. Im going to bed, I still need to get up early and drive back out to NJ to finish up all the work.

He hydrolocked it- had to be towed home and never went to lacey. He's working on it tonight so wish him the best of luck. I hope it comes out alright. This was the same exact spot i sunk mine.. doin the same exact thing! So we came to the conclusion we're building some snorkels one weekend :bounce:

.......Don't forget that I have DOUBLE AAL's, mister! No, really, I was extremely impressed with how my otherwise stock EB held up. All's I have is the TT up front, Double AAL with shackles out back, and of course, the ProComp 32" AT's...WOW is all I can say. This was my virgin run--I've never been off road before. It was MORE than I expected. A) I can't believe how well our trucks perform off-road----even though I have the shitty "I don't know where to send the power, cuz I'm dumb" ControlTrac 4wd 4-auto setting for (what's supposed to be) 4-high....B) I conquered some stuff I didn't know was possible (see above pic).... C) When I finally did get back on-road, everything was as tight as it was when I left road in the first place. Overall, a VERY fun day, with VERY cool people. Thank you to everyone who came out today...you guys are AWESOME.....and, I'm sunburned...thank you God for giving us nice weather.

Well, as much as Matt likes to brag about the SOHC's "power" (please...), I think the most "proven" engine would be another OHV...no? Keep it all the same, right?

but in this case most "logical" for time concerns we're thinking another OHV.. researchin it right now- made a new thread hopefully someone who knows the facts on what needs to be done will chime in.

You know its kind of funny, everyone one this board is buddy buddy with the explorer thing- but from what ive seen in these Engine Swap threads- its like "cut throat" when it comes time to talk about engines.

"SOHCS suck" "V8s eat gas and are useless" "OHV is weak and crappy" SOHC's blow up" "V8's have constant AWD" "OHV came with a crappy tranny" etc...
Arent they ALL good engines in their own way? Yea, the V8 has the most power, the OHV seems to be the most reliable, and the SOHC is the most powerful v6 and has balls (and because of the timing chain tensioners has gotten a bad REP.. let it go people.. its been fixed.)

like i said in the thread i just started... we need some experienced opinions on what to do for carlos here and we'll argue about what engine is truly better later while we're also arguing about the meaning of life..

Ok, Matt.....Don't get huffy....too much sun today?...LOL...J/k dude....No really, I think the OHV is probably the best bet for Carols since it's consistent with what his stock setup is...I mean, if the SOHC will mate nicely to his trans (which I don't know about---will it?), then maybe that's the better bet---I mean, he'll get the added HP of the SOHC engine and smoother revs-I just told you today how nice your engine revs compared to mine. I don't think that the V8 is really an option given it's added torque to an already weak (from the factory) trans.

I recommend these guys.... they have THE best warranty out there 3 years, 75,000 miles.... a rebuilt only gives you at best 90 days to a year... I got one when I hydrolocked at Paragon about 2 years ago and it's still running like new!! here is their website http://www.jasperengines.com/rmfg.html btw they took about 2 days to deliver and about 2 days to install... they are about $400-$500 more than a standard rebuilt... I paid about $2800..and that included labor...
