View Full Version : Lugnuts

As long as I am here this AM; my 94 XLT with the factory alloy wheels has had the auto hubs replaced with manual Warns. I did this myself it was very easy, I think I had 45/mins in the whole job. However, the lock nuts have a tendency to loosen over time. You can feel it slightly in the steering. I serviced the truck last weekend and went to remove the front wheels the lugnuts are on way tight; can't even remove them with a long torque wrench. This is the second time this has happened; last time I had to go to a tire shop with a large impact wrench. I had even torqued them myself to 60/lbs, much less than the recommended settings. Are these things tightening themselves? Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks,

Tom Kauffman

hmmmm thats interesting considering that the wheels are supposed to be torqued to 100 pounds, i would think that they would have loosened up
as far as the wheelnuts go i've had mine get loose after i recently had the hub apart, so i had to re-tighten and haven't had the problem since,

maybe try just a little bit of anti-seize or grease on the studs even though its not suggested, i still see it all the time
