Not sure if this is a repost and i do not have the time to read through thousands of threads to find out.

Well that came to a reasonable solution more quickly than most problems do. Kudo's to the owner for making all the right moves!
Very cool.
Repo people in general are great folks, sometimes people make mistakes. At least they made it right in the end.

Just think if it wasn't an actual company but just some people out stealing a vehicle with a long elaborate plot.

I got pissed just reading that. :fire: Arent the repo's supposed to check VIN's and tags before they take a vehicle? And if so, how in the hell did the bank have this guy's VIN and plate numbers?

First off, he needs to get arrested for his spelling and grammar, my god!
Second, that really sucked. I'm not big on lawsuits, but he should of gotten something for his aggrevation from the repo people. I've been "illegally" repoed before and I know what he was going through.

How'd they make it right? They were in the wrong, got called on it by the police and hauled off to jail. If the police weren't with this guy his car would still be at the repo lot.

You know you got it good when you have a lawyer and a cop behind you. I think he handled the whole situation very nicely. If that was me, I would've just cursed everybody out to no end and got no where.

I just read the entire thread and that's insane. He didn't say it outright, but it basically looks like he bought the car from someone else and wrote a check to their bank for the remainder of the loan. The bank took his home address and transferred the title, etc. However, they somehow didn't mark the vehicle as paid off and when the next payment went past-due they sent the repo-men. They'd been the previous title-holders so they knew the VIN and I'm sure no-one questioned a bank's desire to reposess a car. But the fact that there are no checks in place after that is insane. I mean, how many cars can a local bank possibly repo every day? Can there really be no-one who double-checks these things? At least the guy seemed to do everything right from a legal standpoint. Having a lawyer there for the whole thing was brilliant.

Woody till you said that I had no idea how the bank would have gotten the VIN, but that almost is the only explanation.
That whole thing would have driven me nuts. No way i would have been as patient.
Must be nice to have a lawyer that would get on site fast enough to beat the repo-man. That was awesome.
