It was $1.69 for 87 octane. old mechanic 04-18-2004, 12:18 AM Ri and Ma major gas stations are averaging $1.79 a gallon for regular. There are sites on the web to go on and also tv stations that give the lowest priced stations for gas here in RI & Southern Ma. The lowest I have seen lately or was reported on TV was $1.62 for regular. Its called PRICE gouging by the American oil companys! Proof? When gas goes up the gas alwready paid for that is in the ship tankers, truck tankers, gas terminals and in the gas station tanks are alwready paid for at a lower price but they RAISE that price as soon as Opec announces higher barrel prices. BUT when gas goes down they will sell every drop of the gas in the ship tankers, truck tankers, gas terminals and gas station tanks BEFORE they drop the price of gas. I have a feeling that we AIN'T seen nothing yet! Have a nice RIPPED off day!!! Skidmark 04-18-2004, 02:57 AM $1.97 for 87 octane in northern WA state. :( Blee1099 05-05-2004, 03:12 PM I wonder how much people are paying now.. A month later.. I filled up yesterday and it cost me $1.71 a gallon and that was up at a Wawa.. TheJMan 05-05-2004, 03:14 PM I just thought I'd update again... $2.13 for 87 octane at a Chevron Station near my school I usually put in 89 octane because I get better mileage with 89 than I do 87 so make that $2.23 per gallon. EDIT: Overnight the prices jumped to $2.15 for regular, $2.25 for midgrade, and $2.35 for premium. EDIT AGAIN: As of 5/7, prices jumped again to $2.19 for regular, $2.29 for midgrade, and $2.39 for premium. Looks like I'm going to have to go back to regular at these prices. SnowExploder 05-05-2004, 03:16 PM I payed 1.89 for regular in Monroe, Wa last night. That was on the 12th of April, I filled up on monday at Safeway and it was 1.98, and thats with the .03 safeway club card discount... I hate this, $36 for 18 gallons or so.... :fire: RAZOR 05-05-2004, 03:17 PM $167.9 at the independents. Five to ten cents more at the others. Blee1099 05-05-2004, 03:43 PM That the one thing that makes me wonder about NJ.. You guys have mandatory full service stations yet your gas prices are cheaper.. snocross1985 05-05-2004, 08:41 PM updating: I am now paying anywhere between 1.75-1.85 for regular. They just went up five to ten cents the other day. This really sucks. 03ExplorerSPT 05-05-2004, 10:31 PM $2.37 for Chevron 87. leenjen 05-05-2004, 10:34 PM this really sucks. this morning regular was $1.779, after work it was $1.869 :fire: BBQ_HotDogs 05-05-2004, 10:35 PM This is the very FIRST time in my life that I have seen any gas go over $2.00 a gallon in Texas. Today I saw premium for 2.09 a gallong. This is totally outragious. Bush better do something and quick, or he won't make president next election just for this very reason. Gas prices are a hot issue for this election after everything that has happened. Regular gas is $1.79 and rising and that's the "cheap gas", not the branded regular grades. Charlie's_93EB 05-05-2004, 10:42 PM $1.869-$1.919 87oct DocVijay 05-06-2004, 01:30 AM Man these gas prices suck. I'm going to be driving a U-Haul 2100 miles from Texas to Florida, and at 8-10 mpg, it's going to be a costly trip. At least the group will be reimbursing moving costs. I figure at an average cost of $1.75 a gallon, it'll cost almost $400 to get there. In an ironic twist, if we don't sell it, I'll be towing the X behind the truck. U-Haul won't rent trailers to tow behind the X any more, so instead I'll tow the X behind the trailer... :p Crankcase 05-06-2004, 02:42 AM You guys whine about prices.... Try here. 87 = 94.9 cents a LITRE 89/91 = 1.04 93 = 1.08 Or...convert those prices to US $, and in gallons.... 87 =2.65 US a GALLON 89/91 =2.87 93 =3.01 Think thats bad...ask the UK guys what its like..... Dolphan 05-06-2004, 04:44 AM Last night $2.15, $2.25, $2.35, tonight $2.21, $2.31, $2.41 - same Chevron station. woodychitwn 05-06-2004, 09:07 AM Can't find it for less than $2.13 in Chicago right now. Rick 05-06-2004, 10:05 AM Best unleaded prices here are 1.99... and it's been that way for quite some tiime. On my way out to Texas a couple weeks ago I payed 2.14 for DIESEL:eek: I can't see how the independent truckers could possibly make a living at that price. DocVijay 05-06-2004, 10:11 AM The good news is that here in El Paso we can still find gas for $1.65 a gallon for Regular. Premium is around $1.90, so still not too bad. I imagine right around now is when a bunch of chips are being removed from cars/trucks so that Premium is no longer needed! Rick 05-06-2004, 10:48 AM Well you do pump it from the ground and refine it there. If there is going to be cheap gas anywhere it better be in Texas, California or Alaska :D DocVijay 05-06-2004, 11:14 AM Well you do pump it from the ground and refine it there. If there is going to be cheap gas anywhere it better be in Texas, California or Alaska :D Yep, we have two huge refineries here in El Paso. One is Chevron, but I'm not sure about the other. Probably just a private label gas that is sold to the highest bidder. :p SnowExploder 05-06-2004, 03:43 PM That was on the 12th of April, I filled up on monday at Safeway and it was 1.98, and thats with the .03 safeway club card discount... I hate this, $36 for 18 gallons or so.... :fire: That price was from monday the 3rd. Last night at 12:00, Safeway (in Kenmore, Wa) was 2.08 for regular, or 2.05 with a club card, and Safeway is ALWAYS the cheapest in this area... RAZOR 05-06-2004, 03:52 PM That the one thing that makes me wonder about NJ.. You guys have mandatory full service stations yet your gas prices are cheaper.. That sorta tells you something about the states tellin' ya it will be cheaper if you pump your own. What a crock! :nono: Rick 05-06-2004, 04:11 PM I don't care if it's cheaper to pump my own. I don't want to have to wait for the pump jockey :D DMan446 05-06-2004, 04:11 PM As of 05-05-04 it is 1.76 for 87 Oct here in Wichita Falls, TX Throwing 3 newspaper routes daily at 700+ papers...About 3 hours :) Having the '01 Expl Sport to do the job...................$302.xx a month :) Having to put $20 plus in the tank every 4 days.......INSANE!!!!!! :fire: Dman446 aldive 05-06-2004, 04:14 PM Just noticed the 7 11 neat my home went up to 205 9 for ptrmium today; they were 1.99 9. I am scared to look at the pump at the marina..... Rick 05-06-2004, 04:30 PM I paid 2.27 for premium today. snocross1985 05-06-2004, 04:32 PM How much higher are these gas prices supposed to keep rising? :( Rick 05-06-2004, 04:39 PM Last month they predicted $3.00. :( SoBeLover 05-06-2004, 10:01 PM My brother paid $1.81 a gallon for the cheapest unleaded on Wednesday. The last time I filled mine was two weeks ago when the starter died....it was $1.74 a gallon for regular Flounder 05-06-2004, 10:44 PM $1.89/gallon here. This is freaking absurd. There is no shortage, no sunk tanker, no anything. I wish they'd hurry up with alternative fuel / hybrids already. Unfortunately, oil companies have so much to lose if this should occur, and they'll do their best to prolong it. Argh. Crankcase 05-07-2004, 02:57 AM Today...Regular passed 1.00 /liter here for the first time ever....Now its back to 97.5 X~FACTOR 05-07-2004, 07:21 AM The Exxon place I always go to went from $1.87 to $2.09 Reg in 2 weeks time! That is it I am going to go find a small no-name gas station and get my gas there. This is crazy! glfredrick 05-07-2004, 08:52 AM We are currently paying 1.88 for regular - 2.05-15 for premium unleaded in Louisville. They have a conspiracy here. The prices go up almost in unison on Thrusday night and then lower almost in unison Tuesday morning. Sometimes as much as .20 a gallon! The state attorney general has looked into it and said that they are gouging, and every time there is a news article about it they stop for a couple weeks, then right back to the practice. I miss Kwik-Trip donuts... (Ex Wisconsin native here!) Stic-o 05-07-2004, 03:10 PM I just heard gas went to $40 a barrel. Highest in 13 years! Out here in So Cal cheapest I can find for regular (Costco) is $2.15. Everywhere else is $2.25+ :nono: I exspect it to go up alot by next week. Could be worse though....It was $2.45 in Maui last week  RAZOR 05-07-2004, 03:28 PM Whew! unleaded regular just jumped up from 1.67.9 to 175.9 overnite at the independent stations in town. At that price I'm glad I don't have to get my hands dirty pumping my own gas. cybercreeper 05-09-2004, 08:49 PM Gas Prices on the rise again...As of today the price is $1.79 Per Gallon. Just about a month ago whe I started the thread the price was $1.61 Per gallaon. Damn politics.... RFR2212 05-10-2004, 07:23 AM I've seen regular going for 1.95-2.05 and premium for 2.05-2.25 in the chicago suburbs. aldive 05-10-2004, 07:27 AM Just noticed the 7 11 neat my home went up to 205 9 for ptrmium today; they were 1.99 9... That was on May 6th, now it is 212 9. Stumby 05-10-2004, 12:49 PM My god these prices suck! What was I thinking when I bought this gas guzzling tank! From now on I'm riding my motorcycle everywhere that avgs 56 mpg! #### SUVS! Without them gas prices would go back down! tdavis 05-10-2004, 03:38 PM A Chevron station here in downtown Oakland, CA has diesel for 2.69/gal. That's like 10cents higher than Premium at the same station. Stic-o 05-10-2004, 05:10 PM Toms gonna stop driving his 250 and drive his zuk around cause it gets better gas milage...even with 37's! Rick 05-10-2004, 05:34 PM I heard there was a trucker protest in SF. It barely made the news over here. Was it a big deal? I can't see how the independents can survive with prices like this. We're not quite as bad, but we are over $2. tdavis 05-10-2004, 05:53 PM I now take the zuk on short runs (ie, grocery store..) Anything else, I either wait and get a whole list together, or take the VFR. I commute on the VFR, so that's not too bad (about $12/week now). The trucker strike was at the Oakland Port - it got hushed up pretty good, we barely even heard of it. Rick 05-10-2004, 06:17 PM I heard about that too. I think that was seperate though. The one I'm thinking of involved several truckers who stopped their rigs on a freeway and left... DMan446 05-10-2004, 06:21 PM as of 5/10 it is up another dime to 1.869 for 87 here Stic-o 05-10-2004, 06:24 PM I heard they were gonna do a one day strike. But they would not block freeways like they did here a few weeks ago. I commute on the VFR, so that's not too bad (about $12/week now). That sick! I drive about 30 miles round trip to work. So with the work week and if I go anywhere on the weekend thats it. Thats a tank of gas. Cost me $46.00 to fill up the Ex. So were looking at close to $200 a month for just my truck to go to work, and it's only 15 miles away. Lucky my wife only drives her Ex 3 miles to work. So it takes her about a month to go through a tank. I think I need to get a second job to get to work! Stic-o 05-10-2004, 06:27 PM I heard about that too. I think that was seperate though. The one I'm thinking of involved several truckers who stopped their rigs on a freeway and left... Here you go Rick.... http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/news/043004_nw_trucker_protest.html# sodjer6 05-10-2004, 06:38 PM Regular 87 is about $1.99 around here, and I've seen premium from $2.12-$2.25. Diesel though is still around $1.69 last I saw... Here is part of a "spam" e-mail I received today in three different e-mail accounts(if you want the whole thing I can e-mail it to you)... Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Someone, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $1.97 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50- $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can'! t just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war... tdavis 05-10-2004, 07:11 PM That sick! The trade off for high gas milage on the VFR, is other costs are higher (ie, tires every 8k-16k miles, chain, oil and filter(s)) So about every 6months, I have to spend about $400 on the VFR to keep it ridable. Valve adjustments are the expensive things - about $500 every 16k miles. I could do them, but at $500, the local Honda dealership can have that mess, since it's a royal PITA to do. I have been averaging about 10k miles a year on the VFR - I'd like to do more, but my time is limited (I haven't done a long distance ride in about 2 years) I ride the VFR due to traffic, not gas prices. Automatic OHV lane on I80, the traffic cess pool in the SFBay area. I have had it take as much as 1.5hrs to drive the 15miles to work with the truck - with the VFR, it's about 20 minutes tops (even when the rest of the traffic has come to a grinding halt). The fact that gas prices don't really effect me is just icing on the cake. The F250 is still on the tank of diesel from about 2 weeks ago. I'll have to top it off next week for the Moab trip. The zuk? Even longer.. :D Flounder 05-10-2004, 07:29 PM I filled the Trac this afternoon... 21.065 gallons, $40.00 even at 87 octane ($1.899/gallon). He use to ride the CBR to work all the time beacause he went from the Covina area to LAX area every day. He really hated it when it rained. Have to get get up early to take the truck to work. DocVijay 05-11-2004, 11:56 PM Well, it's now over $2 here in El Paso, which is pretty bad considering it's made here. Actually most of hte gas that is made here is shipped elsewhere, and the gas we use is imported from Mexico. Go figure. Regular $1.85 Mid $1.95 Super $2.05 I'm glad I took out my Superchip, at least now I can use regular... Rick 05-12-2004, 12:25 PM Gas prices hit record high Max Jarman The Arizona Republic May. 12, 2004 12:00 AM Phoenix gasoline prices soared to an all-time high overnight, jumping 5 cents per gallon, to $2.15, for regular on Tuesday. The price of crude oil, the chief component in gasoline, closed above $40 per barrel Tuesday. It's the highest price since 1990, setting the stage for even higher prices at the pump. Howard 05-12-2004, 01:21 PM Well if its any consolation you are still paying only a third of what we have to pay even at these high rates. $2.15 /us gall = £0.315 / Litre .
