View Full Version : Getting into the gas RC world...

Well, I've been watching some absolutely wicked drifting videos, and this is something I'd really like to get into. I did make my start into the gas aircraft, but sold it off because I just didn't have the time.

I'm not exactly sure what to look for in the motor and all that good stuff, heard good reviews on HPIs, but nothing more really. I'm not looking for an offroady or dirt slugger, mostly one to fun and race around with on my free time and keep me busy, and somewhat cheaper modding than my actual truck (oh God).

Honestly, I'm extremely interested into getting an Evo/Skyline/R34 body with some nice speed and off-the-line "get go". Is there a forum I could read up on and get some more of these basic facts, or some shops that I should be looking at? Price isn't a factor here.. I'd like to buy a good amount of the speed stock and do my minor upgrades later on, but body/rims will the be the first to be touched. Yes, it's going to be a little "ricer" or "sport car", I have my friends lifted F150 to have some fun in, this is the other way around obviously. ;)

I got money to spend on this (well, credit counts right? lol) -- I'd be willing to drop some dough for someone to really help me out on getting me a good setup within the next few weeks (I plan on getting something 1st/2nd week of June). I'm totally serious and open-minded on this, I really want to get started in it.. unfortunately there's no local shops I know of that are specialists in this (I live in Los Angeles if you know of any).

Thanks for EVERYTHING!

I'm a big fan of team associated vehicles. I already own the popular RC10 GT stadium truck and the nitro TC3 which is pretty swift. You wouldn't go wrong with the nitro TC3.

As for engine...one word...novarossi. A highly respected person in the nitro rc car forum scene is a guy that goes by the name nitro dan. He will gladly help you out. www.affordablenitrotech.com
