I've had my explorer for just over a year now and just reicenly I've noticed how touchy my break light switch is. First of all when the break lights come on I can hear a relay or swich or something clicking real loudly from the storage compatment in the rear. I don't think that's normall because it's really annoying, to me anyway. My sisters low buck Nissan Sentra doesn't make noises like that when you hit the brakes. The other problem is that when I'm under breaking and I let the pedal up just the slightest, the light goes off. It's especially annoying when I'm feathering the brakes while under breaking and the light keeps flashing on and off. I know this beacause of the clicking going off in the rear. It's like hearing
morris code when ever I'm inching along in rush hour trafic. If anyone has had this problem before or knows how to fix it, your help would be greaty appreciated, Thank you.

I have this exact same problem it's driving me nuts. Any help out there guy's?

my 2001 does the same thing... i think its a ford thing cause my old mustang did the same thing..

BTW I went and bought a new brake light switch from Ford and it didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

So can everyone hear there brakelights going on and off? I mean it is a really loud clicking. My girlfriend has a 94 ranger and I can't hear her brakes turning on and off.

Yeah, my brake light switch is pretty touchy too. I think it's just a Ford thing. As for the clicking, do you guys have the trailer towing package? Perhaps it's a relay clicking. FWIW, I don't have the towing package and don't have the click. Just a thought.

My mom's Lexus does that, you can hear it when going slow with the windows open. My X doesn't though.

Yep I've got the towing package. I thought it might have something to do with that. It sure is annoying. Guess I just need a better sound system so I can't hear anything. I sure would like to fix it though, it must be annoying for anyone driving behind me.
