View Full Version : Some of my toys
98 mounty 06-01-2004, 10:51 PM I have over a dozen rc cars and trucks right now. I also run my own website to show them off, but I never seem to want to put the time into my site that I should, I still have alot that I need to add to it. Anyways, I'll let the pics do the talking :)
First off, my Tamiya Bruisers. The first one is my show truck, it has not been run yet, but it will some day. The second one is my official runner, which has seen it all. I do have a third one, but I still need to finish the body for it before I take any decent pictures of it.

And here are a couple pics of one of my custom tamiya trucks. It is based off the Tamiya pajero XB cross country chassis. I modified a Tamiya F-350 ford body to fit the short wheel base of the chassis. And I also modified the suspension for increased travel.

And here is my Juggernaut which I do race, although it is currently in several pieces. I need to get it back together and start racing again soon.

I have quite a few other rc trucks, but I either have not taken the time to take good photos of them or I just have not put them on my website yet.
CodePoet 06-01-2004, 10:58 PM I've never seen an axle like that on an RC car (talking about the Brusier). That's sweet as hell! I have an RC10 B3 a boat and a couple other cars myself. I'd love to race the rc10 but haven't found a track around here
Cool Stuff!

spindlecone 06-01-2004, 11:01 PM :bounce: :smoke: :nono: Forgive my ignorance, I understand radio controlled, are they battery operated, can you get them with gas moters? do you make them from kits? can you make me one, like a sportrac redfire ?
osker75 06-01-2004, 11:03 PM just wondering how much does cost to build something like the last one because im really interested
spindlecone 06-01-2004, 11:04 PM :bounce: :smoke: :nono: Can You make me a dropped streeter on 20s?, make it like my ST, cost is no matter
98 mounty 06-01-2004, 11:12 PM The Bruisers are about as scale as the rc trucks get. The only down side is that production of the Bruisers ended in the early 90's and they go for about $500 used now. And parts can be hard to come by. But that doesn't keep me from driving them every few months.
And my rc trucks are almost all electric, I do have one gas one. And the gas one has not been used for a few years now, to much work for a bit of play. And all the models I have are electric only. But a few guys out there have converted Juggernauts (my last truck pictured) to gas trucks.
And I have about a grand invested into my Juggernaut. The truck its self was picked up for $250 used. The chassis was later picked up for another 250. The motors 60, esc 120, radio gear 150, 2 race batter packs at 60 each, and a few other parts as well such as the shocks and some gears. I have also had to fabricate several parts for the truck for racing.
spindlecone 06-01-2004, 11:23 PM Still want one, a streeter, built to scale, mint perfect, can you do it?
98 mounty 06-01-2004, 11:32 PM I've never built up a street truck yet, it can be done though. It would be easiest with a lexan body instead of the hard body type that is used on the Bruiser truck. And if you are just looking for a street truck with a lexan body, you can pick up nearly any car kit from a hobby shop and a truck body. Then just paint the body and get the rims and tires you want.
Here are some of the cars I have, all of them thrashed pretty hard.

And this is my old emaxx which I have sold, it also has a lexan body. This truck also comes in a gas version, the Tmaxx.

BBQ_HotDogs 06-02-2004, 01:11 AM As soon as I saw this, I went to E-Bay. There are about 4 bruisers there for sell and they are not cheap. Also is a body for sell that is brand new in the package and never painted.

I too have the Bruiser, Love it! have you seen the prices they want for a used one on e-bay? I have pictures of pulling my little boy around the yard in a red wagon by my bruiser, he was about 14 months old or so at the time. I need new batteries for the servos as well as main, have a good place I could look into?
Thanks
98 mounty 06-02-2004, 08:58 AM You should just upgrade the mechanical speed control to a esc. I've never run a bruiser with a MSC before, I always have used the esc's. They range from about $35 on up to 120 and some go beyond that as well. If you need any more advice on what ones to look at just let me know and I can show you a few options. I actually run a cheap $35 on my runner and it works great :P
On my show truck I fabricated a radio tray that puts everything in place. It even has a second servo mounted underneath for shifting.

Purdue72 06-02-2004, 09:53 AM 98mounty,
You sure seem to be an authority on RC's. Can I convert a traxxas rustler to nitro?
Hobbytown said no, but I figured they just wanted to sell me a new car.

Yes Spindle, they do come with gas and "nitro" engines. You will find 1/5 scale cars that tend to use the gas engines. 1/8 and 1/10 scale cars tend to use nitro engines. Actually, I have a gas one for sale if you're interested. :)
Batteries are still needed regardless to run the servos which control steering and throttle, and of course, batteries for your transmitter.
Yes, they come in kit form, RRR (Ready to run) and ARR (almost ready to run).

rjeffers 06-02-2004, 03:10 PM I meant to put this in my earlier post. The RS4 is also for sale if anyone is interested.
wired_af 06-02-2004, 03:11 PM Holy crap that Bruiser is awsome, it even has leaf springs and shackles and stuff.
CodePoet 06-02-2004, 03:16 PM I had a mechanical speed control in my boat for awhile. One day while playing with it at the park the wiper arm must have jumped abit causing an arc...the contact thing melted up into a ball so I lost ALL the forward speeds lol. Racing boats don't like being driving backwards...it was a bit of a pain getting back to shore without swamping it in reverse haha. Took it back to the truck and cliped the melted parts off and it worked perfectily. Now I have a Duratrax DTX esc for it (had problems adjusting it though :( ), and am running a Duratrax Streak esc in my rc10 B3,...works awsome!

rjeffers 06-02-2004, 03:21 PM How do rc boaters retrieve their boats once it has stalled in the water?

Backstroke?
98 mounty 06-02-2004, 10:06 PM Well the electric boats, as long as the driver is smart they will pull it in before the battery dumps on them. The nitro guys, guess they are good swimmers? Thats what keeps me away from the boatin scene.
rjeffers 06-03-2004, 09:32 AM That's what's keeping me away from the boating scene as well. I wonder if they have any technology that will allow the boat to circle back or work its way back to the signal of the transmitter.
Doesn't seem like much fun having to steer the boat 2 feet from the shoreline just so I can reach it in case it stalls.

traxxas offers a nitro boat that has a electric motor in it, when it runs out of fuel you switch over to the electric and you bring it back that way
