Can someone please explain how to remove that panel of the rear driver's side door on a 1995 4 door XLT. My window quit going up and down, so I need to get to the motor. Thanks!

Check the fuse first! As for the instructions, since you do this sort of thing yourself I'd pick up a Chiltons or Haynes manual, it'll be invaluable. From what I hear its not easy to get those things off on Explorers, I replaced the motor on an 87 Aerostar XLT (what a peice of junk that was) and it was VERY hard to get the panel off. I don't even remember how I did it!

I have a '91 and I'm not sure if it comes of in the same manner, but I'll explain how to get the panel of of a '91.

First, take out the 2 screws near the door handel. Then there is a piece of plastic surrounding the handel that can be taken off with a flathead screwdriver. The panel is held on with plastic clips along the sides and bottom. Just pull on the panel to disconnect those clips. Then all you need to do is make sure the handel is clear and lift the panel up and it is off.

Damn that sounds easy. I just remember on that old Aerostar, took me HOURS to get that panel off.

In addition, you might want to use a long handle WOODEN SPOON to help pry those plastic push fasteners off. I'd also head to the parts store and pick up some extra pins in case you bust any. Hopefully the window is down which makes the job easier.

I looked this thread up to find out how to take the rear drivers side door panel off. It was very helpful, but now that I got it off, I can't get the panel back on! The panel wont latch back onto the push pins.. is there any special method to get it latch back onto them? I push as hard as I can to get it to go back on, but it's being very stubborn..

Most of the push pins stay in the door itself . You have to remove them from your door and snap them into the door panel itself . Once you have them all back in thier door panel spots , hang the dorr panel back over the door lock knob and then squat besides the door and look into the crevice between the door panel and the door . Line up the studs sticking out of the door panel with thier respective holes in the door itself . Once you get them lined up , start pushing the door panel in from the top to the bottom . If you hit a sticky spot , lift the panel up slightly while looking at the crevie (or whats left of it again) and try to line up the last few studs . It will then pop all the way in place :)

Make sure the plastic liner for the door is in the right place or it's holes won't allow you to see the holes in the sheet metal .

Also , I think most auto parts stores sell the tool to get behind the plastic studs so popping them out is much easier to do . Snap on sells a plier that you squeeze the handle together and it pops them out (kinda like a revers set of needle nose pliers)
