Six years ago today I got off a bus and stood on yellow painted footprints on a street on Parris Island, SC, the recruit training depot of the United States Marine Corps. Drill instructors yelling at us, we filed inside to lose all of our hair. Today I sit in Twentynine Palms, Ca, a Corporal of Marines, Nuclear, Biological, And Chemical Defense Specialist, and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. It's been a great six years, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

Semper Fidelis, Heres to at least two more years in the Corps :chug:

Semper Fi leatherneck...

I was born in a Marine Corp hospital and raised in a Marine Corp home. I learned to fire a .45 from an ex-Marine pistol team member and had to best a mom that aslo placed on the woman's axuillary team back in the day. I learned to be tough and think it natural and normal and it has helped me to accomplish lots in life. I would have been in myself, but for health issues (birth defects) that eliminated me from any hope of serving, but that hasn't stopped me from adopting the attitude and having the fortitude.

Way to go soldier.

Congrats...what are the footprints for?

it's an organizational thing. Where the busses stop to let new recruits off at the Depot, they have yellow foot prints painted on the ground in a platoon formation so they can do things with military order and efficiency from day one.

Semper Fi, and thanks. I plan on going into the Officer program for the Marines. A friend from high school just had her bf come home from 29 palms.
