May I change my 4-speed automatic to a 5-speed automatic? I have a 96 XLT 4.0 OHC 4x2. What else do I need to change? :confused:

It's basically the same tranny with some minor internal modifications and more computer control.

So you'd need to install all the updates and get a new computer that works with both your motor and tranny I believe. Though there is probably more to it than that.

It's not worth it, as your 1,2,3,4 are the same as the 5 speed's 1,3,4,5.

Yes, I know that at 5 speed 2 is between 1 and 2 at 4 speed, but which updates? Which computer is it? and probably more....what else? :confused:

Why?

Bacause my transmition is broken, I'd like to put a new one, not fix it. If these changes were simple, I'd prefer 5-speed. I'm looking for 4 speed, but can't find and certainly no one here in Brazil will know which changes need to put 5 speed.
