I have had this thing for three years now.
I just today, quite by accident, learned that if I shut my truck off and remove the key I can still operate my windows. until I open the door then it all shuts off.
Pretty far out !!!!!!!!!!

Yea, the wife usually opens her door with the window half way up.

Yea - its a pretty neat feature. One of the reasons everything is wired through the GEM.

That reminds me of that VW commercial where the guy runs in the house to show his wife he can power the windows down from the door lock!lol :)

Isn't it just sh!tty that my '03 Sport XLT Premium doesn't have this feature? I was pretty mad when I found that out the second day of ownership.

That is the coolest feature, especially on a hot day after getting out of work....just stand there and let the car air out. Other then that, dont buy a Jetta :nono:

Wow, thats pretty cool, I'm gonna have to try that this afternoon. Had mine for a year and never even thought to try it.

My favorite feature is the new functionality in the intermittant wipers. When you increase the wiper rate, the wipers cycle once immediately, rather than making you wait to see if they will cycle soon enough next time.

John.

On my 96 it does that window thing as well, and EVERYTIME my wife will open the door, just as the window is almost up. I think she does it now just to piss me off. LOL

I figured that out in the first week I took delivery of the truck but it was just last year I figured out the openning the door part. I was wondering how come it works at times and sometimes it doesn't. :D

My '90 Honda Accord has that feature too. So right after I got my truck back in the days, I tried it out to see if it had the feature and it did so I was happy!! It also controls the sunroof too so it's pretty awesome.

Other than being parked and wanting window contol with the engine off, why not just close them when the engine is still running?

I have always wondered why people will stop, turn off the engine, THEN put up their windows....its harder on the battery, why do it!!

Because I'm so forgetful! I'm always pulling the key out of the ignition before noticing I left a window open! I sure wish my '91 had this feature!

It must be limited to certain trim models. My 01 Sport doesnt seem to have this feature. Tried it several times with no luck.

Yeah I thought this feature was pretty neat too when I found it, I also left my map lights on last night and learned that it has a battery rundown feature. I came back about 2 hours later and they were off and the truck started right up.

yah the delayed window feature is great....My 98 740i Sport does this too but it has 1 up...when you hold down lock on the key the windows roll up and the sunroof closes up to 30ft away and when you hold down the unlock button they all open and the sunroof goes back...ytou can also set it to memory where the windows and sunroof where when yopu last locked it...its PIMP

I have some passengers that have finally figured out that they need to wait to get out until I am done with the windows. Most though get out to soon but I tend to adjust the windows before I turn the truck off.

I did recently notice though with the factory radio if I have it turned up loud and turn it off. When I turn it back on it resets the volume to 8 or 10, one of the two. Pretty nice for when you forget to adjust it after turning it off. Don't need to be blasting it on passengers :p

Why not? Besides the Jetta has a better sun roof switch. On it you just turn it to the position you want and you're done. On the Explorer you have to hold the button until it's closed. How anoying!

The only weird thing is that we have a diesel Jetta and a gasoline Explorer. Seem's wrong doesn't it? :)

We have a 2002 Jetta 1.8T, and all that special crap. So far, in 2 years of having it, it has chewed through 2 trannys and is in the shop at least once every 2-3 months to have that stupid check engine-esq light fixed. Thank god we are only leasing this

I realized about a year ago that if you turn the dimmer switch for the gauges and AC lights all the way up all of your interior lights cut on. Had it for four years with out knowing about that one.

It is neat. My folks never go any where.
Put it to you this way, they traded in their 94 Intreped which they bought new.
64,000 miles.
64k in ten years.

Thanks Brandon, it is nice to have some one who can relate :D

Sounds like my Dad's Silverado. '98 with 36k. Six years and 36k :p And then there's my sis with her Explorer and in two years put on 30k and my neighbor put 30K on her Aviator in a year.

Every car in the world does this. At least every car/truck I've ever owned has. :)

Same here...

When I found out about the window thing I also found out (read the manual one night when TV sucked) that if you unlock the driver door w/ the key twice quickly it will pop the other doors. Pretty handy as I have no keyless or keypad.

Yes, but they always seem to go out for some strange reason...
