Hey I'm getting ready to change the oil in my 93 X sport and I just realized i have no idea what kind of oil filter i need. The one that's on there now is blank white because valvoline put it on and my owners manual does not say the filter size. Can anyone help me out?

Motorcraft: FL-1A
Fram: PH8A
Wix: 1515

These are probably the easiest filters to find. My recommendation is the motorcraft as they are the cheapest of the above 3 and don't have the "bad rap" that the Fram does.

What is the story behind this? I've been using Fram without problems.

A guy went out and bought a ton of different filters and cut them apart to look at the filter itself. Fram did crappy, check it out http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

Personally, my dad and I used Fram for a long time without any problem. But twice in the past year, we've had the old gasket come off and stick to the filter mounting spot. We caught the problem before installing the new filter, but it speaks to the quality of Fram. Buy a Motorcraft, its a Purolater gold filter for half the price. For a lot of things, filters, plugs, wires, etc. sticking to Motorcraft is a good bet.
