I have a 2000 XLT 4dr 4wd, and I am doing a Transmission flush and filter at work sometime this week, but I came across a problem. Three different type of Transmissions. We have a chart at work of the pan that will tell you which one you have....but the 4R44E and the 4R55E are both designed with the same pan. I am just wondering what is the most common transmission. I don't have the tow package or anything of that nature. I think that 4R44E is the most common, but I could be wrong. Thanks everyone/anyone.

This should still be the 5R55E. The A4LD, 4R44E, 4R55E, and 5R55E all have the same pan gasket and filter configuration, but all the older transmissions should be upgraded to the newer Microfelt filter when changed.

I know what I need. I work at an auto shop. I just need to figure out which transmission I have to so the filter I order will fit. We have a catalog on our computers from NAPA (I am one of your "Napa care" auto specialist ha), but they have 3 transmissions listed for the 00 XLT. And like I said, they were 4R40E, 4R55E, and 4R70W. Just need to know which one to order. Thanks everyone for the post.

One thing you should learn is catalogs are sometimes not very good. They seem to refuse to update them when the imformation is somewhat good. If is a V6, it is a 5R55E they stoped making the 4R transmission in 97. Make sure they don't sell you a metal screen filter. The 4R70W is used on the V8.
