Just recently started having a never-heard-before "BEEP" sound that is coming from behind the dash at various times. First noticed it sometimes when the turn signals come on or off, then found it happen every time when I roll the window down. Beep happen at the bottom of the roll down.

Obviously an electrical problem and the car has been sitting for a long time, so I thought it may be the battery. But a long deep charge overnight did not make a difference...

Any ideas?

If yours is fitted with an immobiliser it can give some odd signals if the battery is run down. You can sometimes clear it by turning the ignition on (not running) and leaving for 30-45 minutes.

Pat,

Thanks for the response. Our Explorer is stock, but I thought it may be low voltage, so I charged it overnight, still have the beep.... Strange. Any other ideas?

Took the Explorer to Ford today. They determined that the problem was the "Memo Pad" - that pad on the driver's side visor. Had them disconnect it and everything's dandy again... Just thought I'd put it down here just in case someone else has the problem
