I find it funny that a lot of people are trying to sell K&N air filters. That says something about the company.

What would that be? Just because something is for sale doesn't mean there is something wrong with it.

Many people are switching from the K&N drop in filter to the KKM True Rev kit. The True Rev kit provides more airflow and also reduces the likelyhood of water being drawn into the engine. A product review can be seen at http://www.4x4central.com/reviews.html

I am not disputing the fact that there are other options out there besides K&N. K&N is a long standing respected company in the automotive aftermarket. As with any other consumer product, a premium name usually carries a premium price that is the way retail works. Just because they do not have a product to cover a certain application does not mean that the company is somehow less than respectable. Which seems to be what Keith is implying.

As for the KKM Tru-Rev kit, while it looks great and everyone has had great results with it, it is not an option for everyone. It has no provision for a heat riser tube. While this may not be important for people in warmer climates, it is an important consideration for many of us. I want to be able to start my truck and have it warm up quickly at -20 so the K&N drop in filter is probably my best option.

In my case, I switched from a K&N drop-in filter to a K&N conical filter. I have run K&N filters for over 400,000 miles on several vehicles - no, there is nothing wrong with their products.

Actually, I have saved a considerable amount of money on air filters by using K&Ns (and, I've kept a lot of dirty filters out of landfills.)
