tonyd,
First of all, (I am not trying to tell you what to do or anything) you may want to post this in the General Explorations Forum. Not too many people venture into this Forum these days. With that out of the way, you may want to check out the two links below. They give you a little bit of a start.

Performance Products (http://www.performanceproducts.com)

Explorer Express(or ZDoctor) (http://www.explorerexpress.com)

Take care and happy exploring!

I recently purchased on 1997 Explorer XLT. I did not come with the running boards but I would like to add them. Does anyone know where I could get them and their approximate cost? Also, are they easy to install or would I be better off having them done professionally?

I bought my running boards from Summit Racing for approx $215 and the matching fender flares for $163 more. The set I purchased were the Deflecta-Shield Sporttrend. The installation would be a breeze with 2 people, was still somewhat easy with only 1. Just make sure to find a good body shop to do the paint! Mine started peeling after 3 months, which was touched up under warranty, and again at about 6.5 months - out of warranty. You can see what they look like on my 91 on my page, they are the same design for the 91-99 model. The fender flares are for the 95+ model, but will fit the 91-94 with a little modification http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/smile.gif. Explorer Express also has some very nice looking boards in their catalog, as does Performance Products.
