I was just wondering: I would love to put some kind of sticker on my back window or on the side windows that read "www.4x4central.com" Has anyone ever thought of this. It would be great advertisment for the site that we all love so much. I am thinking about having one made. What are your opinions?

Brian,
I am not one who is usually into advertising but I like the idea too. I would be willing to put one on my Explorer. I would not mind at all to advertise for this group because I feel like it is the best on the web for helpful advice and members who really want to help. Count me in.

Brian, Ira,
Rick already has some designed and I asked him if he would make them available to all of us. He said he would check into making some more. If you look at the write up on his truck, you can see pictures of them. They look really good. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/smile.gif

I had one of these, and it was great! The only problem I had with it was, when I slid off the trail snow bashing. It seems that Tree limbs and windows don't go well together! I should've takken pictures of when this happened, it would have made a great addition to the whoops page!

My brother owns a company that makes sticker graphics for Nascar trucks and other racing teams. He can make almost anything. If someone will send me a design or a good picture of what we want, I can have them made up fairly cheap.

Too Weird!! I was thinking of this on the drive home from Truckhaven. What I had in mind was a round logo to go on the front fender or door, similar to 4x4 club placques. I see it as mostly black and white, with a third color, maybe yellow/gold. It would be very bold graphics, with Serious Explorations around the outside of the circle, a close-up shot of an explorer in the circle similar to the one on the Truckhaven flier, and 4x4central.com in a line below the Explorer. Overall diameter would be 9"-12". I could do a rough drawing to send to Brian, if Rick is okay with this. Rick?

Sounds great guys!!! I wouldn't mind that either. I was thinkin' the same thing. White lettering sounds good. As a matter of fact I'd pay for a good looking window sticker like that. Has anyone thought about Tee Shirts or front licence tags or anything else like that?? Also do any of you know if Rick has designed any type of logo yet for this site yet?? If so we could try and incorperate it into the sticker or tee shirt. My fourwheelin club sells sweatshirts as well. Really cool ones. That and racing type jackets. All ideas.... Rick what is your input on this subject??

I Agree with Advertising for the Web Page, but I do not want to be a "Driving Billboard". I think that one or two Window stickers would be great. The idea of a 9" diameter Door Sticker is a little too excessive. Something to go on the Read Side windows is what IM thinking of.

Just another idea; I'm not much into permanent decals since you may want to remove them some day. The window "sticker" I have from my college is actually removable. It is made of somewhat heavier plastic than the standard decal, but it stays put without any problems and without any sticky stuff. If I ever change vehicles, I can easily peel it off this window and put it on another.

I forgot to mention in my post above that the 4x4 club I'm in puts our logo stickers onto flexible magnetic sign material, so we can put them on for runs, and remove them for the rest of the time. I like the sticky-less window film idea, but I've never known where to get some. Anybody know?

Explorerdude

I second the removeable sticker idea. The only thing is I have one of those I got free from a rock festival I went to and it kinda is permanant now. It was free though... Another idea could be to put the "Ultimate Exploration" logo on a sticker and shirt... Maybe try to some how incorperate that with the www.4x4central.com (http://www.4x4central.com) logo. Just some more food for thought...

I think I will just stick with the regular sticker for the window. If I need it off I will just take the razor blade to it and put another one on.

I tried to contact the guy who said he could make the stickers. He hasn't returned my message yet. I've already tried to sell the window stickers like what I have on my truck and what I gave away at Truckhaven. They are 2'9" long and 3" high. They will fit either in the center of the winshield or on the side rear windows. They are non permanant. They are made of vinal and are very easy to peel off should the need arise. They don't leave any adhesive behind yet they stick like crazy. Mine have been dragged through tons of brush in Arizona.

Anyway, they aren't cheap to make, at least where I have been getting them made. If someone has a source for these let me know.

I tried to sell them on the site once before and had very poor results probably due to the price.

Bill, if you want to work on a logo, I would be interested in seeing what you could come up with.

Rick,
What kind of prices are we looking at? I liked the ones you passed out at truck haven.
I'll pay for one, even though i have a 2wd. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/frown.gif I've seen a a couple of shops around here that do alot of banners for people. Mostly all those little rice burners, but i'm sure the prices arent to bad...

sorry about the double post...darn thing was going screwy on me....what i meant was to see how much it would cost to have the one like yours made down here...We should try and get everyone on the board to pitch in on ideas on what the logo should be. Have some logos drawn up and maybe combine and switch'em around to see what the majority likes the most. I know when ordering if we can get a large enough turn out, the price of the logos will go down. I'll try and through some ideas around on this logo. I like what Bill was describing. I like the banner too...hmmm going to work on that...

I think someone already said this one, but I think the idea of a sticker or decal that said "Serious Explorations" then right below it have www.4x4central.com (http://www.4x4central.com) and maybe to the side a logo of some kind. For the size I think maybe 6 in. wide by 2.5 in. tall. I would definatley buy one if anyone ever makes one.

Well,
Who ever comes up with them count me in for a couple of them.
Brian Green see if you can get a price on the type of non-permanante sticker like Rick has, then we can compare prices for both the 4X4central,com and the Serious Explorations, between your guy and the guy that Rick gets his from. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Bill(RangerX), I think it would be cool http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/cool.gif to have a magnetic logo that we could put on our trucks when we all get together on runs like Truck Haven. Could you work on that?
My thought on this is it would be too much to have a sticker and logo on the same piece of film. I like the 9" magnetic logo, but would only put it on when doing a run with the group.

I am working on securing a price to make stickers like the ones Rick has on his truck. You can see them at http://www.4x4central.com/rtidroop_lrg.jpg The only difference is that the one on the bottom will say www.explorer4x4.com (http://www.explorer4x4.com) instead of www.4x4central.com, (http://www.4x4central.com,) at Rick's rqequest. They will be vinyl like the ones Rick was talking about. These are easy to remove, but they are not really reusable unless you are really careful when you remove them. I can get just about any design made, but only in a sticky version. I can have them stuck to liscence plates or magnetic sheets or anything else, but I can not get the non-sticky ones.

This is really outrageous, I was just thinking of the same thing about two weeks ago. To try and let some of the other explorer owners in the area know about this website. And then maybe I could meet some Wheelers in the Dayton area and finally find out what it is like to go Four wheeling in my own truck with others that are knowledgeable.

It must be true that great minds think alike. Count me in, I don't put many stickers on my vehicles, But I will definitely put one of these on there.

I really like the idea of the Great/Ultimate Explorations, with a picture of an Explorer and the address.

My price for a 2' 9" long x 3" tall banner which will fit on the windshield or side windows is $16.00 ea. I can get them to say either "Serious Exploration" or www.explorer4x4.com. (http://www.explorer4x4.com.)

Thanks for the heads up about the Explorer4x4.com not working. My ISP's DNS server crashed and he didn't have the link set up. It should be working again within a few minutes.

Just to bother you with another question? Do you still have the pictures that I sent to you? I can resend if not. I sent them through the mail. I dont think 16.00 is that much for something on the Explorer compared to everything else we have on them.

Please wait until I find out the shipping cost. It shouldn't be to much.

The stickers are removable, but are not replacable. That is they won't leave a mess when you take them off, but you can't stick them back on again.

Is the size ok with you guys?? If You want them smaller they would be less expensive. They can make so many banners for so many square feet of material. If the banners are smaller the price drops. One of the guys on the Truckhaven run had a smaller banner. It fit in between the hinges on his rear window. The letters were about 1" high. What do you think???

Brian, I still have your photos and photos from others as well. As you all have probably noticed I have not added new feature trucks in some time. I have been swamped. Between arranging the Truckhaven run and my real business I haven't had the time to devote to this site.

I would have liked to have had the Truckhaven report done as soon as I got back, but that was impossible, I was luck to find the time to get the 4 pages of photos up. I do have 3 pages of text ready right now and the article should be done tonight. I have spent most of my Sunday working on the article and other things which have been neglected around my house.

I would prefer a smaller one. Not that the larger ones are bad, they just are not for me. I would prefer a small, possible round sticker that goes on the window.
