Hey, wait just one second. If you can get 50 more horses from a coffee can, what if I were to use a water bottle? You know the kind? Those 10-gallon clear plastic ones we fill with pennies? If I were to cut the bottom out of it…….

Were talking a huge HP increase! Hold on! I have dual exhaust!!!! That means I can put on two of them! Were talking about a 9-second quarter mile Explorer 4X4!

And all this time I have been wasting my money on things like headers, supercharger, computer chip, forged pistons, etc. when all I had to do was add a coffee can. I’m such an idiot!

Wow, I didn't know we had an anti-asian (or oriental as you melanin deprived people would say) racist page. I'm not a racer, but are you the guys who switched to trucks because your big bad 8 banger mustangs, camaros, hemis, etc. got embarassed by a puny 4 banger? Oh, I thought so. What? That street legal import runs 9 second quarter miles.

And hey Kial, regarding those jap POS's, explain to me why big bad GM, Ford and Chrysler got their teeth kicked in in the 70's, 80's and 90's by these POS. And why the big 3 went to Japan to learn something called QUALITY. And why GM wanted to open up the NUMMI plant in Fremont, CA so that it could learn Total Quality Management. If you look at JDPower surveys on the top quality manufacturers(least amount of defects) tell me what companies you see?
Also instead of 'nipped up explorer' why don't you put 'ignorant ass redneck'?

It's okay, I'm sure you're not that racist to not buy Japanese products. I'm sure you have something in your house that's manufactured somewhere in Asia. Check your TV, your computer, your phone, your clothes. They're makin money off your racist butt. Who's laughing now.

Hey guys, take off your white hoods and black trenchcoats for a second and do something called educate yourselves.

Hold on here R,

None of the comments on this post are meant to be rasist. The guy who runs "riceboy.com" is even of Asian decent. And has the guts to show no mercy based on race and slam away on cheesy mods. I read a note from him on the old version of his site that he had to hide his and his car's identity for fear of retribution. It is really sad that the world has become this bad where friendly and competitive bashing, come on we all do it, over a hobby could get you killed.

These guys were not meaning to be offensive and I could understand irritation over "nipped-up". But note that I don't and won't take any offense to "redneck" as short of a gun rack in my rear window I am sure I qualify now that I am in the south rather than sunny So. Cal.

Best and equal regards to all.

Holy Cow the R!

Talk about reading into things. Man give me a break. One person making a stupid comment suddenly makes everyone a racist? Come on, give your head a shake.

Everyone else was laughing at the idea of having a stainless steel garbage can(I know it was a coffee can) attached to their exhaust. If you don't see the humour in those two web pages then maybe you should lighten up a bit. I bet you don't think that The Ultimate Poseur's Sport Utility Page is funny either. http://poseur.4x4.org/

Hey! Lets all just lighten up a bit. I’m sure nobody meant any derogatory remarks. Sometimes we tend to forget there are people out there that are more sensitive then others.

Now, that being said, I have a question for the R. I have been on a racing team for several years. We race exclusively imports. I have never seen a street legal car do 9 second quarter mile. Now I’m not saying it isn’t possible. But do you realize how much money in modifications it would cost? And how much HP it takes to move a car 1/4 mile in 9? If its street legal, it can’t have too much in the way of weight reduction. It has to pass emissions. I don't think so.

And as far as what country makes the best vehicles, yes, Japan did make better cars in the late 70’s through mid 80’s thanks to unions. But I would put any American car built today up against any foreign car of the same price. The problem is when people compare cars in the same class, they fail to take price differences into consideration. For example, a Ford Focus' base is $11,950 while a Saab Viggen 3-Door's base is $37,995. Now both of these cars are in the same class, Sports Coupe. Is the Saab better then the Focus? Hell Yes! But at 3 times the cost. The truth is, almost all cars are created equal. I don’t think anyone was bashing imports. Just the way some people modify them in an attempt to fool other people into thinking they are faster then they are. I’ve seen people do it to domestics as well. Just not as often.

And sense you brought it up, the fastest cars in the world (piston engine that is) come from Detroit, not Tokyo, Stuttgart or any other city.

Oh yeah, when you made a point about someone else being a racist, or making racially biased remarks, your whole argument went down the drain when you made the comments "ignorant ass redneck" and "take off your white hoods and black trenchcoats".

This is supposed to be a friendly site. If someone says something that is that offensive to you, I think you can tell them without stooping to the same level.

When i first read this post i started off LMAO then a few posts down i was like WTF is going on. It was a joke that was funny. Unless you have a coffee can exhaust pipe on your car and believe that you have a 50hp. increase becuase you painted it red instead of yellow then you shouldnt have a problem with any of this.

You guys are going about it all wrong. You want to increase your HP, you need a few Type R logos and some stickers on the rear window. That will give you at least an increase of 200HP at the rear wheels :)

While you're listening, I have an incredible offer to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge... I have the deed right here haha

That explains why my ricer didn't get any faster when we put the 2'x3' Type R sticker across the hood. All that added horse power went to the rear wheels....Oh wait its a front wheel drive. Anyone know how I can transfer the 200HP from the rear to the front so my car can go faster? :D J/K :p

Besides, the term "Riceboy" doesn't mean Asian in any way. I've seen Caucasians who are Riceboys (ie. stickers, chrome hubcaps etc). I'm another Asian myself driving a Ford....BUT WHO CARES! I'm happy...they're happy...EVERYONE IS HAPPY. I've actually asked some Caucasians, if people give me long stares when they see me in my Explorer because i'm Asian (these people are are good friends btw). The answer is a flat "no". It's because my Explorer looks really good.

BTW, Dan E:

At least they call yours the #1 Soccer Mom Car. Mine's affectionately called, "The green bus".

Okay those sites are really funny, but I have to say that I've seen tons and tons of awesome Japanese cars (Civic's, Eclipse's, etc.) with mods that make the car look and drive outstanding. And they can get very, very fast. I would consider many import cars today's "hot-rods"
I have a friend who went out a bought a 92 Civic hatchback 2 years ago. He bought the car used for around 5 or 6 thousand. After about a year of continuous work to the car he has transformed his car from an average everyday driver to a real show car and drag racer. He has done an engine swap, full-custom exhaust (not just the coffee can!), new transmission, cold-air intake, computer with real time analysis and control over the engine, new suspension, body parts, interior redone (seats re-covered in vinyl, and other accents, stereo), wheels, tires, paint, etc. His car runs 12's consistently and it's naturally aspirated, no turbo, no NOS.

This reminds me of what my dad did, and what many of you did when you first got a car. He went out and got a Nova real cheap and then started hooking it up. Porting and polishing, exhaust, stereo system, drag racing slicks, the whole deal.

Us teenagers today are doing the same things that you all did years ago with your Camaro's and GTO's, we have just chosen a different type of car to modify. And back then there were some really cheesy mods done to cars too. We've all seen that Camaro with the chain steering wheel or that Chevy van with the wood paneling interior with Christmas lights. Oh and the octagon shaped rear windows. I agree there are some nasty imports out there that are i guess what you call ricers (anyone ever see the Subaru with the cardboard ground effects and the toilet paper roll exhaust?? I swear to God it exists) But lets just remember that it's their car and they can do whatever they want to it.

Oh and yes there are imports that can do 9 second quarter miles, but they are most likely not street legal. But when was the last time you saw an American car that was street legal turn 9 second 1/4's.

I guess I just really ranted and raved about this but ah oh well thanks for listening!

Steve

the other day up at bandimere speedway, I was in my F-150 (which was the slowest vehicle there but I'm not ashamed, I know my F-150 isn't a drag racer LOL) but at the end of the day, last run, I was up against a del sol. had the clear corners, the big ol airdam and the big ol wing in the back, plus the big ol retardenator exhaust and everything. I was quite suprised when he only beat me by .4 seconds (which in my opinion is the same as me kickin his ass considering I weight about 4 times as much and have 14 lights causing plenty of wind resistance, LOL) That was the first race all night I ALMOST came close on (lost to a vette and a souped up camaro, LOL)
