I have a 92 x 4x4. currently i have no lift but might be putting on a small one later. my question is how much does a bigger tire affect the vehicle? looking at the tire size/ lift thread i see that the biggest i could fit right now is a 31. would that hurt the vehicle? i know big tires make a vehicle work harder but how have your x's held up. did they require mods before putting on bigger tires?

my other question is what are some good rims out there for a 1st gen x.

American Racing, Eagle Alloys are some good rim manufactures. 31s won't do that much more stress on your Explorer. It will probably throw your speedometer off a few mphs though. My brother put 31s on his 4cyl Ranger recently, and it rides well and his speedometer was off by like 3-5mph. So I think you'll be fine with 31s. Good luck on your choices!
