Hi,
I have a '97 Explorer XLT and am stumped for a location to mount this radio... I can't find a place for even a small radio in this truck! It's all stock (so far anyway), I even ripped the center console out - but it sure looked UGLY. So - anyone with ideas - I'm listening!

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Sparks,
Welcome to the best Explorer website on the Internet. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I had the same problem with my 97XLT. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/confused.gif What I did was mount(verticaly) it on the left hand side of the console at about a 45 degree angle, so I could see the front panel. There is enough room there as to not get in the way of my right leg. I didn't really want to drill holes on the side of my console, but I could not find any other spot that would allow me to see the front panel. I have a full size Cobra ST29 and there just wasn't any place on the dash that could take it. The only other place I could think of would be the roof, but I didn't like it there myself. Let us know where you end up putting it. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/smile.gif Hope this helps.

Hi Ray,

I agree - this site is excellent! I'm glad to have found it.

I musta ran afoul of something here, as I see I was listed as from Corpus Christi, TX - truth is - I've never even been there! My user name was unrecognized as was my Email address. I reregistered with the correct info & hopefully it'll be reflected in this post.

As far as the radio goes - remember the radio?? Well, you have the same location I came up with too. I think I'll probably go on the passenger side tho.. there seems to be more "perceived" room on that side http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,
I almost put it there, but the wife didn't like, said it got in her way, http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif so I put on my side. Gotta keep them happy. http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/wink.gif
