i am using a cobra cb i dont know the model ( i know it makes a big difference ) and am using a k-40 40" antenna....

i know that there are big solid antennas that will give better performance but i dont think they would do too well getting hit by tree branches.
the steel whips seem too long

what is the best way to go for off road ?

are there any tricks that would help my cb's performance ?

if you never get stuck, you just arent playing hard enough

Fortunately God looks out for fools and 4-wheelers, or am I being redundant.

I have a K-40 antenna mounted to (through) the roof of my truck - it works great! It does get smacked around by tree limbs, but has survived nicely.

I've seen video of my antenna whipping back and forth as I climb a rutted hillside - I really wouldn't want a longer whip. Also, if people are standing around watching, they would really get hurt by getting smacked by a longer antenna.

yeah ... i do like my k40 ... i just never looked into the options

i did have one break on me ...but it took a monkey to do it .....

i went thru a drive thru safari at six flags ( great adventure ) ... a bunch of monkeys were jumping from car to car ...when they got on my truck ...they started swinging on my antenna ...it didnt take long till it broke ..then they ran off with it ...i didnt even get a souvineer . http://www.4x4central.com/ubb/frown.gif
