I have a 94 explorer sport 4x4, and was wanting to put an alarm on it before I start upgrading the audio, etc..


anyone have any recommendations for a good off the shelf alarm?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 if you want a 2-way or Avantgaurd if you want an amazing 1-way setup. Get a back-up battery (Avantguard has one built into siren) and mini piezo siren for inside. DEI is one of the best (best IMO) alarm companies so anything by them is of quality, and they have a lifetime warranty.

I will ditto the DEI, I use the valet with remote start. Dont go cheap on an alarm. A few hundred dollars to protect your multi thousand dollar investment is worth the cost.
Besides the remote start is REAL nice in the winter. :)
