I was told by someone that I really don't have TRUE 4wd on my 02 X. Because stock it doesn't have a locking diff. this being something that I would have to put in after market.
Is this true? If I go out 'wheelin'" and get on 2 wheels are they just going to sit there and spin?
Thanks....

PS. anyone know a good place to get underside protection stuff? ie bloder bars, oil pan protection etc.

Thanks again

Is this true?Yes, it is. But keep in mind it is also true for nearly every other stock 'SUV' 4x4 on the market. There aren't too many vehicles which come stock with lockers front and rear. See the Best bone stock wheelin' vehicle? (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111699) thread for a lot more info. You also may or may not have a "limited slip" rear differential. If you do, that can prevent you from getting stuck when only one rear wheel loses traction. Just search this site for "limited slip" and "locker" and you'll find more information than you'll probably ever need.

If I go out 'wheelin'" and get on 2 wheels are they just going to sit there and spin? That depends on a which 2 wheels and a lot of other things. Depending on the terrain, losing traction in both front or both rear wheels may not be a problem, but (without limited slip or locker), completely losing one of each front and rear without momentum will very likely get you stuck.
