View Full Version : Clanking from front end

I am getting some "clanking" when I go over small bumps at various speeds. A few months ago, I got new shocks (front and rear) and new radius arm bushings... the "clank" dissappeared for a while but now is back. Installations were performed by a mechanic not myself so bear with me here. I'm a rookie.

So, I checked out the sway bar bushings and those seem to be intact and not split. I'm hoping I can fix this clanking at home and learn more about my X.

Let me know your thoughts por favor.

thanks!

I was going to say check the R/A Bushings as its a common probem, but since you just had them replaced maybe make sure both are seated correctly, and that the R/A Bolts are tight, other than that not really sure.

Hope you get it figured out, maybe someone else will have another suggestion.

Thanks Matt, I will take a look at them... also I have read that the wheel bearings may be responsible for the clanking... I plan to jack up the truck and try and move each wheel up and down to check for "play".

Any other suggestions are welcome while I try these...

Check all the suspension bolts and such. I've had clunks and squeaks from loose shock bolts and bad shock bushings.
