I used to have a Phase 2 Qlogic box (sealed), *Two* Alpine Type E 12" Subs, and an Alpine MRV-T320 Amp wired at 4 Ohms and putting out 140Wx2.

I got rid of this system becuase I didn't like the space it took up that I needed and the added weight.

I've asked for a Qlogic hidden enclosure (sealed) (the one that fits in the space where the storage bin is). I will be probably be purchasing *one* 10" Alpine Type R and I haven't decided but either a MRD-501 amp wired at 425W x 1 RMS (2ohm;@12V 1% THD+N) or a MRD-301 amp wired at 250W x 1 RMS (2ohm;@12V 1% THD+N).

Which system would be louder? would the 10" still be louder with the 301?

More SPL or SQL ? both?

I doubt you will get much more sound even if you go with the MRD-501. This being because you have reduced the amount of surface area that is creating sound. It will probably be a much more tight bass, but will most likely be roughly the same volume level. I feel that you should go with the MRD-501 over the MRD-301, though I feel that these amps are good, but nowhere near worth the money that you would spend on them.

Hold on a sec...I don't think that the type R will even fit in the Q logic enclosure, the depth of the sub would make it way too deep for the enclosure.

Probably correct as it's got a depth of 5-15/16ths. So unless that hidden enclosure has 6in of depth available, you're out of luck.

Otherwise, my brother has 2 of them in .75cu/ft boxes and gives them about 400 watts and they're great sounding subs.
