Hey. I am new to this, I have a '97 Sport with a V6. I wanna put a new muffler on it to make it sound louder and meaner. I dont really care about performance, I really just want the sound for now. I have heard the flowmaster 50 series but i have also heard that the 40 has a better tone to it. I was hoping that someone would have some input on what kind of muffler would be be louder, and under $200. Thanks a lot.

You want performance with an aftermarket exhaust, you'll get that and sound. I have a Flowmaster Super 40. I started with a 50, nice rumble but not loud enough. 40 was good, but Super 40 had a deeper tone. That's what I've got right now, Flowmaster Super 40. I'd buy the muffler off eBay and take it to a shop and get 2.25" piping installed.

Is yours an SOHC or OHV V6? If you are just wanting a new muffler and not replace the pipe, you will easily have it done for under $200. I changed all of mine from the cat back and it was only $210 with a Magnaflow Muffler.
