Hi, I've found a 91 ford expl. eddie bower edition, for sale.. the owner is selling for 1,000. It's not in perfect conditoin, but it runs good. My only concern is that it's difficult to shift the manual trans. I have to push real hard to get it into the different gears.... My questoin is, what could the problem be? How much money and time to fix, and is the vehicle worth 1k? please help asap.. might buy it today... thanks!!!!

I dont know a whole lot about manual trans but sounds like a clutch issue? I could be wrong. Is it rusted out? and hows the engine? 1,000 for a 91 with some little probs sounds about right, whats the mileage?

Could be the slave cylinder if it's difficult to get in gear from a stop. These are around 80 bucks at the parts store but you have to pull the tranny out to replace them. Most of the time other parts are replaced when fixing this to save on labor costs.

Please do not use "please help" as a thread title. Make it as discriptive as possible.

If it has a manual trans. then it's not an Eddie Bauer unless it was added aftermarket. Or a total fluke.

This is not true at all. My first Explorer was a 91 Eddie Bauer, 5 speed manual tranny, ordered from the factory prior to mass market introduction.

I guess at first introduction there were a few manuals in an Eddie Bauer. Hence my phrase a fluke. Because officially EBs only had automatics. And after that they only had automatics. That's something, I didn't think there were any EBs with manuals.
