I went off-roading today and after climbing over a rock in my X I began to hear a hissing noise. The rock was hitting under the rear seat around the fuel tank, but I dont think i punctured anything because it was a flat rock but it was sticking out. Anybody ever have this problem and is it fixable by myself or is this a dealership fixer.

Think it might be fuel filter as it stops as soon as the car is shut off. Or maybe fuel pump. Possibly an exhaust leak. I dont know.

the fuel system is over on the left side of the truck and hte fuel filter is way up front near the drivers foot area under the truck.... sounds like its possible you puntured a hole in the exhuast or bent some skidplate or the cat heat shield and that might be whats making the noise as the exhuast system is whats on hte right side of the truck... the muffler is actually located around the rear right wheel and this to sometimes also has heat shields that can get crushed, knocked loose, or bent cuasing the vibration of the exhuast to rub on it and make noise.....

Could it be a rear brake line.

I'm thinkin i can take that hill you went up with no problem. Only reason you couldn't get up was those Forteras. Maybe the LTX's will grip better.

could be the vacuum return from the engine compartment back to the tank from the charcoal canister....I dunno
