I got quoted today for a 10" MTX box the same as JL's for $375, and it's powered. It sounded great. Just thought I'd let you know before you run out and spend $1g.

I got quoted the same price for the MTX box but there is a difference in the two boxes. THe MTx is plastic the Jl is fiberglass. I also read this magizine that did a reveiw on both boxes the Jl box came out better on the end. BTW you were only quoted on the Box itself. The Jl box on its own costs $515 and the MTX is $375 You are going to save only $140. The intire 1g that I spent was for installation, amp, wiring, and other labor.

If you go with a MTX box you still might have to pay $960...

Just some food for thought.

You mean they're including an amp in the package deal? Or are they connecting it to the sub amp that you have? I don't think the Stealthboxes are powered...? If it is, then go for it! Jon

It's built into the box, like a powered sub for home theater. Even though the JL may sound better, $1g for loud bass is a little too much.

The stealth boxes are not powerd you have to buy an amp to push them... I know I priced and reserched them both... Oh BTW the stealth boxes are not made for that loud bass that most people hear coming from lowriders... It is more of a quilty bass that you can't get from reguler door speakers. and the stealth box also will save your door speakers from distortion and being blown. With theJl in my Navajo I run the dorr speakers about have the bass I use to...

Hi Kris. So how do you like your JL Stealthbox? Is it really worth $500? I wanted to get one but at the time I couldn't afford it so I decided to get a JL 10W4 and put it in a Q-Logic Explorer type stealthbox. I couldn't pass it up since the enclosure was only $80! The sub was $150 so the total was about half of the JL Stealth.

But now I am thinking of upgrading since I'm not as happy as I thought I would be. I was thinking of moving my exisiting sub to the front hub and have a custom install and then purchase the real deal Stealthbox. Does that fiberglass enclosure really make a difference and would you make the same purchase if you had to do it again?

I am not sure since I have not heard the q-logic box. But my friend was thinking about buying one. I love my JL fiberglass box it sounds really clear. all my freinds that I had it done right... It was money well spent.

Oh if you deside to sell your q-logic box I am sure I can ake it off your hands. I could stick it in my friends explorer or my moms Explorer...

I have a MTX Explorer subwoofer and enclosure installed in my 1997 Explorer! I only paid $269.00 for it and it sound quite good considering that the enclosure is plastic and so small! I decided on the stealth aproach for my explorer since I regularly keep it parked outside and figure what can't be seen is alot less likely to be stole!

I have a 5 channelle Soundstream amp, a set of 3 way MB Quart seperates (61/2, 4, 3/4 tweet), 61/2" woofers in the rear, Eclipse tuner/video monitor and Eclipse 12 disc changer!
