I don't know if you have an electronic's chain by you called "Fry's", but they sell the adapters for 5x7s for about 15 dollars. Jon

Q-forms makes kick panels which fit up to 51/4" speakers with tweets. you can probably check them out at their website. going this route would mean that you wouldn't have to cut out anything, just replace one panel with another.

JTang: What do the adapter convert the 5x7 into 5 1/4 or 6 1/2's?

the R: I already have 5 1/4 up front, I want 6 1/2's, plus with kick panels you have to bend the emergency brake, to much trouble.

Do anyone have 6 1/2 speakers in the front doors? if so did you have to cut the metal or just make a plate or both? I have 5 1/4 in the front doors now with a custom made plate, I want to move them to the rear doors and put some 6 1/2's up front, but I really don't want to cut anything unless it's necessary.

I checked them out, and the labeling says it works for 5.25S and 6.5s. I believe there are two types of 5.25, and it takes the slightly larger woofer frame one. If you look at a Crutchfield catalog, they lightly talk about this. From what I see, they are plastic adaptors. They are made by the same company that you usually see that make the generic radio surround/harness kits for the car's head unit opening. Now that you mention it, it does seem strange to they say you can fit a 6.5 diameter, when the smallest part of the 5x7 spec is the 5" part. But that's what it says. Jon

In the front door there are spacers that angle the speaker back at the occupants. If you remove that spacer and use 3/4 inch Hard board cut to fit your speaker they should fit. I ran the 6.5's in the back of my truck for a while and they had plenty of room using this method. Make sure you angle your tweeter seperates. That will kind of cover the imaging diffrence from taking the angle spacers out. Sean
