Lets talk about my transfer case….


So I was changing the oil the other day and noticed a tube had come off the front of the transfer case, this tube had split right where it joins onto the transfer case. I traced the tube back and found its only about a foot long and finishes on top of the transfer case….. yet there is quite a lot of oil coming from the connector on the transfer case that it used to connect too…….
Its not transmission fluid but smells more like engine oil…..any ideas

Classic vent tube problem....get a new hose that is longer and put it up higher to prevent water from entering.

thanks crank, the problem is...... im sure its not tranny fluid thats coming out... it does not have the smell.... it smells more like motor oil to me and does not look anything like tranny fluid.... .does the transfer case run another oil?

haha this happened on my 92... i didnt even buy a new one. i just cut the 1in long section of split rubber and stuck it back on there. Replaced the transfercase with oil and went

i dont know about your generation but on mine its ATF Mercon III
