Yes you need to pay $30 to join the Elite Explorers to get a avatar listed under your name. Come on and do it. The forum's bandwidth is beyond what we are getting in donations more than likely. We just had a record number of users recently online.

I encourage everyone to join in, this board has some great old hands who freely offer advice... it's worth the $30. For those of you thinking of posting projects, pictures are a HUGE addition. This board is getting well known on the net for having some helpful FORD type posts... that means more traffic, which helps pay for things.

Something isnt right then.. I know a few other boards, where they turn a profit.. and are cheaper to become elite, with no dues. Would it help if some of the old non active members were removed, or threads that were over 3+ years old?

Sure, Rick could profit from this site. But you'd have pop ups, pop unders, and have to wait for adds to load. Most forums aren't as large or well done as this. And I haven't found one yet that matches the members. $30 for the first year is less than a tank of gas, and almost all of us has found info here that has saved that, and a whole lot more. I think it's a helluva deal.

Thing is, the $30 fee is a only a one-time setup fee. Drop in the bucket compared to what we're spending on other things. The annual fees are less than I spend on gas in a week. A bargain if you put a price on all the things I've learned since I came to this site.

Yeah, I've more then paid for the $30 in the things I've learned on here and avoided paying a mechanic to do. Its not that much $, pay up suckas! :-D
