SmokeGrinder 04-05-2005, 03:53 PM would anyone be up for camping?
suzunbc 04-06-2005, 07:45 AM I hope you guys don't plan using street tires Come up with date, so I can plan this. Even if I am a Yank I will try to be there. What about some of the public right-a-ways.
UK Explorer 04-06-2005, 09:33 AM I hope you guys don't plan using street tires Come up with date, so I can plan this. Even if I am a Yank I will try to be there. What about some of the public right-a-ways.
I will soon be running 33's with a 4" Superlift. Probably need a 2 or 3" bodylift as well. I think at the moment wildtracks is just an idea, If you look at wild tracks website it does have different tracks to go on for different levels of capability. Yank, British, whatever - who cares....you got an X and you can get there - your in :D :D
BTW - you got any picts of your X as it sounds interesting in your sig?
SmokeGrinder 04-06-2005, 12:02 PM What About the weeked of July 9?
suzunbc 04-06-2005, 03:15 PM Hey UK
You will not need body lift with 33s. Put the lift on first then decide. What Type tires are you putting. If I remember there is a company in England that market tires for Land rovers that are suppose to be real good in the mud and still streetable. As for Pic of truck, your not the only one who has asked. Will post one as soon as I can
Doug
SmokeGrinder 04-06-2005, 03:20 PM Doug,
It would be great to see you at the UK meet. Would you be able to bring your truck over?
suzunbc 04-06-2005, 03:44 PM Of course I will Played tag team with some landrovers last time I was there. Wife was pissed, My brother-in-law Keeped making coments about the tires until We went to Chatsworth and I pull lady and her stuck car up the small hill that was part of the grass parking lot. Threw mud everywhere when my tires dug in. grounds keeper was not happy. Should not park cars when ground is soft and soaked with water from heavy rains and not expect peaple to get stuck. Found a right a way near sheffield, suprized the crap out of this couple on their horses. turn out I was on a horse trail.
SmokeGrinder 04-06-2005, 04:33 PM It would be good to see a US explorer, Never seen one without a floor shifter in real life.
I had to pull my girlfriends little car out of a grass parking lot the other day. She drove it in there..... (dont know what she was thinking because you could see it was muddy). .......women......
I'ts pretty hard to find places to go off roading here, ive been down public rights of way before, however people dont really like it as im sure you found out.
Are you in Gemany full time? Do you miss home?

UK Explorer 05-04-2005, 05:54 AM Ok Guys - got the info :D
To drive your own 4x4 around the offroad couse cost £25 which gives you access between 10-4pm. We can get a group discount if I let them know before hand - I have provisionally booked us for the 9th July and said we will have between 5-10 cars wanting to go on the offroad course, price is then £20 per car
Price incudes offroad course, recovery, and a vehicle power wash!
If you want to just come and have a look it costs nothing to come and watch - but that would be very sad ;)
They also can offer offroad driving tuition, one to one @ £155 per person - one addtional driver @ £40
or
offroad driving tuition for groups min of 3 sharing @ £50 per person
There is a Restaurant and Children's Adventure Playground onsite as well!
Sounds all good to me :D

UK Explorer 07-08-2005, 05:03 PM Unbelievably after finding the venue and booking I cant make it either!...really fed up but unforseen problems make it impossible
Really hope you have a good day, I'm sure you will

Really hope to meet you all soon.....
SneakyPete_UK 07-09-2005, 10:42 AM Some of us made it, Very good fun.

UK Explorer 07-09-2005, 02:45 PM good picts, what happened to everyone else?...at least I said I was not coming!
REALLY fedup I did not make this, if anyone wants to do this again I will deffo be up for it - really was unavoidable that I could not make it today.
Howard 07-09-2005, 03:36 PM Well we had a great time. Had to rescue a Discovery in a deep water hole and later a Range Rover stuck in the mud. I'll get some pics up asap. The only casualty is that I lost my front number plate. So Explorer 2 others 0. :D
BIG HVM 07-10-2005, 02:41 AM Well all of you that did not make it....you missed out on a brilliant day, Howard, sneakypete and me (BIGHVM), showed up and we waited, and had a cheeseburger or 2, and waited.........then thought, lets do it! I was very worried bought wrecking the ex or even me! But after a once around..I eased up and really had a fun day, For those of you who dont know, as well as being a great powerful daily use car, these are also very very capable off road, even in stock form with road tires! Ok you have to use some common sense, but none of us got stuck in the mud, we wallowed in deep water and mud, really hammered round the dirt- and nothing broke!
You know we are lucky at last to have our own part of this site, and this was our second meet, numbers showed was three only.....a poor show! The U, S of A will be laughing the butts off at us guys...lets pull together and try and make someting valuable out of this scene....and have some fun also.
So looking forward to another meet soon maybe with more of you comming to have a great day out- bring the wife, or someone elses! and the kids you will all have a brilliant day!
Cheers folks
RangerX 07-10-2005, 07:57 AM this was our second meet, numbers showed was three only.....a poor show! The U, S of A will be laughing the butts off at us guys...
No laughing here. Our runs have no-shows, too. I've been on many runs of three vehicles, and had fun every time!
Howard 07-10-2005, 05:12 PM Well I put together a short video of our meet. It may not be the best but was filmed under difficult circumstances. (I was driving so my daughter was the cameraman). :D
http://www.hdcomputing.co.uk/explorer/the%20meet.wmv
Enjoy.
UK Explorer 07-10-2005, 05:26 PM BIG HVM, I did not just 'no show'.....I am as passionate as anyone about the X and was really looking forward to it - but sometimes things do happen which make things impossible - just like this time....
BIG HVM 07-11-2005, 04:35 AM Sorry if I offended you Bruce, I never intended that at all, just I was so looking forward to meeting with all you guys!
I really hope that we can get it together at the next meet, the same place would be great as it is mega fun and a great day out if you have a family also.
Check out the video that H has posted = Brilliant!
Looking forward to meeting you Bruce.
Take care Dude!
SmokeGrinder 07-11-2005, 04:49 AM sorry
