i saw a guy on this forum that purchased a set of these wheels, and i was wondering if anyone else had any positive/negative feedback about them. im simply in love with the chrome/black design of it and im thinking about getting a pair because i think itll look awesome on a white X with tinted windows.. any feedback would be great..

ps - would 15x8 be the size of my stock wheel? and what is the bolt pattern, backspacing, etc. Basically, what are the stock wheel specs of an 01 xls.

I'm not "exactly" sure but I believe the back spacing on your year is still 4". I also think the stock wheel size for your year is 16x7 but you can get an 8" wheel if you want.

Look at your tire and see if it's the last # on your tire size is 15 or 16
example 235/75/15 or 235/70/16

i was going to go with that wheel but i decided to go with the 5 spoke crome instead because i believe the chrome is a little more of a durable finish than the black paint. but dont take my word for it. i have seen both the painted and chrome steel wheels rust, but i think the chrome would be easier to prevent with cleaning every so often.

lets say i get these, and lets say i do some minor off-roading, and lets also say that the black gets scratched or comes off.... how hard would it be to re-finish the black? would a simple sand/primer/paint/clear from spray cans work?

that would probably be it. i might even throw on a clear coat for a more durable finish. i would say get them. even if you end up not liking them they are cheap enough that you could replace them and not be out a bunch of money.

well then i think ive decided on wheels:

Wheel
Series 94
15 in. x 8 in.
5 x 4.5 in. Bolt Circle
3.75 in. Backspace

anyone see anything wrong with 31"s on these tires? please say no.

No, no. You're amusing me, too. :p They should look good, though. My dad had similar wheels on his black full size Bronco and I liked them on that.

Rick had those on his Explorer when it was still green.

Yep. They do really good wheelies :D

I never had a problem with the black getting messed up. I have a set of those rims with a 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern out in my shed. I was thinking about putting some less aggresive tires on them for driving on the street.
