View Full Version : So I'm sitting there eating lunch...
FROADER 06-07-2005, 04:32 PM outside of a local sandwich shop looking at my car, when all of a sudden I see a white Chevy cargo van hit it. :fire: I RAN over there and was ready to beat the holy hell out of this guy but I keopt my cool. He apologized and apologized and felt really bad. It was a company vehicle, so I got their insurane and called that company and told them what happened. I also went directly to a body shop that does our ambulances (I work at Doctor's Ambulance Service in Laguna Hills), and the estimate is $2100.
I'm still trying to calm down from this. When anything happens to my stuff (cars especially) I get really worked up. I wanted to kick him squaw in the nuts as hard as I could.
Picture quality is a camera phone...

boominXplorer 06-07-2005, 04:38 PM :( man! It could ahve been worse remeber that. If you wern't paying attention and he left, you would have been screwed. Anyway man sorry to hear that
Blee1099 06-07-2005, 04:53 PM Damn.. I would have made him legally brain dead if that was my vehicle. Then again I do have an anger management problem.
ExplorerSportNu 06-07-2005, 04:57 PM LOL I was expecting a little door ding then scrolled down  Good Lord, i'm assuming this is in a praking lot, how the hell did he get it that bad ?
410Fortune 06-07-2005, 05:05 PM Damn man....sorry to hear. Accidents do happen, I am sure the guy just made a mistake, not worth going to jail over.
Also I did not know you were in Laguna Hills you big jerk, I lived in Laguna Niguel....
RangerX 06-07-2005, 05:28 PM If you drove your Ex to work, that couldn't have happened! :p
FROADER 06-07-2005, 05:44 PM This car has been hit twice in the same left front fender now just sitting there. One outside my girlfried's apartment complex and now the parking lot of Quiznos. I wish I would have drivien the Explorer so it would mess other peoples' cars up. I might be putting an exocage on the Audi soon! Bumper car!
ExplorerSport, he was parked next to me, pulled out and turned too soon. :fire:
Jamie. I don't think I worked here when you lived out here. I live in H.B. though.
410Fortune 06-07-2005, 05:54 PM you must park weird :P hahahaha
Brian_B 06-07-2005, 05:59 PM This car has been hit twice in the same left front fender now just sitting there....
At least no one was hurt and you saw who did it. I have to ask though:
Did you paint a bulls eye on that fender for some reason? ;)
FROADER 06-07-2005, 06:05 PM you must park weird :P hahahaha
I guess.
Did you paint a bulls eye on that fender for some reason? ;)
I tried not to make it so obvious though... :)
Or people around here just think "oh hey, there's a nice looking car, let's go hit it..."
davidmmm69 06-07-2005, 06:44 PM what was his excuse.." I didn;t see you car"
410Fortune 06-07-2005, 06:47 PM hahahaha in Laguna they are all nice looking cars...
SPORT4.0 06-07-2005, 07:01 PM :thumbdwn: What a FLIPPIN Disaster!! seeing your car get smashed....jeeeez....It looks more like $3100....
TheFox88 06-07-2005, 07:16 PM LOL I was expecting a little door ding then scrolled down  Good Lord, i'm assuming this is in a praking lot, how the hell did he get it that bad ?
Seriously. Christ! :(
FROADER 06-07-2005, 07:18 PM what was his excuse.." I didn;t see you car"
The exact words that came out of his mouth.
davidmmm69 06-07-2005, 07:19 PM that is sad...
bmxking5 06-07-2005, 07:52 PM Ouch, sorry to see that. Like said above, it could have been worse and atleast you saw who did it. :( If only you drove the X...his van would've been totalled. ;)
collkid 06-07-2005, 09:32 PM That sucks, but You get an Audi as your company car!?!?!? lucky
bmxking5 06-07-2005, 09:35 PM Noooooo, I think he means that the van was the guy's company car. ;)
FROADER 06-07-2005, 11:11 PM Noooooo, I think he means that the van was the guy's company car. ;)
;)
rfuree11 06-07-2005, 11:44 PM wow, that sucks.
If it makes you feel better, my mom's TL is going in for its third rear bumper next week. It got rearended for the second time a few weeks ago by a motorcycle. Needs a new trunklid, bumper, taillight and the exhaust system is tweaked.
Its only a 2003
FROADER 06-07-2005, 11:46 PM That sucks. I really like those TLs... a lot.
jimbo74 06-07-2005, 11:49 PM $2100! thats it? i got my truck totalled out and jsut got more than that for my truck... and looking at it, most people cant even see what the damage is..... http://www.explorerforum.com/data/3424/4019tail.jpg its the very bottom of the rollpan under the tailgate, see how the license plate is smashed under?
FROADER 06-07-2005, 11:51 PM My damage really isn't that bad. It looks worse than it really is. It looks so bad because the light is sticking out like it is.
That's the difference between a totaled '85 toyota pickup and replacing the front end of a '99.5 Audi A4...
FROADER 06-07-2005, 11:58 PM My rental... '05 Pacifica Touring. POS
http://www.explorerforum.com/data/3419/1600pacifica-med.jpg
Sucks man, but you're right, I can tell it's not THAT bad. The headlight rapeage makes it looks worse.
That rental car is GHEY. :p
FROADER 06-08-2005, 12:08 AM That rental car is GHEY. :p
You're right, but it's a front wheel drive and it's a rental. some of you might remember the sticker I had on my old explorer at one time. "Drive it like you stole it..." Oh yeah! ;)
Hell yeah, rental = carnage! Dude, do the fast food tray trick!!!!
FROADER 06-08-2005, 12:15 AM Already did it. 2 trays per tire.
Nice. Do it again and tape it.
I had an evil chevy impala, and a guy backed into it at my place of work, who didn't work there, looked about the same, the killer was the front bumper was $1300 bucks, the head light was $250, and it made me nuts to think about it, I witnessed it as well, and the guy was trying to leave, yeah, that was bad for him. I think the total bill for mine was around $2600, that doesn't include a weeks worth of rental car, so prolly around $3200 like bigdakota said.
BeauJ 06-08-2005, 08:31 AM Sorry to hear about your car. But haha at the rental. Get some video/pics of the tray slides :D
410Fortune 06-08-2005, 09:06 AM ahhh the Bronco II
Headlight $18
Grill: $35
Fender: $18 ea
hahahaha ok ok so its not funny......That rental looks WAY to pretty :)
When I was in CA I had one of my work buddies from our CO office out for a visit, he rented a full size Dodge 4x4, it had 130 miles on it when we took it up to Los Coyotes :) It did pretty well!
FROADER 06-08-2005, 09:49 AM This thing has 15,500 miles on it and the service needed light was on before I got it and they know that sooooo........ ;)
hit_that 06-08-2005, 11:21 AM Anyone care to explain this 'fast food tray' thing?
FROADER 06-08-2005, 11:27 AM Find a wide open area. with a front wheel drive car. put a tray infront of each rear tire on the ground. roll the rear tires on to the trays. set ebrake and go have some fun.
bmxking5 06-08-2005, 12:13 PM I DEMAND VIDEOS OF TRAY SLIDING IN THE RENTAL CAR!!! :D
collkid 06-08-2005, 02:48 PM Noooooo, I think he means that the van was the guy's company car. ;)
OH, good i was abou to say, i'm in the wrong business...

techieman33 06-08-2005, 03:16 PM That sounds SO SWEET! im trying it TONIGHT!
so get some video :D
xxScapegoat 06-08-2005, 03:56 PM thats exactly why i dont eat sandwiches.
FROADER 06-08-2005, 04:07 PM Dammit that's my problem... sandwiches are my favorite food.
manticore33 06-08-2005, 09:07 PM Hey, if you want to make a little bit of extra money, my B5 A4 needs a lower front valence and side grill inserts. ;)
FROADER 06-09-2005, 10:01 AM I would but the lower front valance was already cracked before this even happened. Shitty way to get a new one but whatever works I guess? :D
You talking about the grill inserts in the bumper or the actual grill itself? I don't think they are going to replace the grill in the hood.
manticore33 06-10-2005, 04:28 PM I would but the lower front valance was already cracked before this even happened. Shitty way to get a new one but whatever works I guess? :D

I'll take the front valence cracked if it will get tossed, plus it will match the dents on the rest of the car (I bought the car, '98.5 1.8T Quattro 71k, for $500 with a broken t-belt and it was little beat up). The grill inserts on the lower sides of the bumper, but only with fogs (I do not have them) :D . It might be a shitty way to get parts, but finding that front valence is hard!
FROADER 06-10-2005, 04:47 PM When I said, "shitty way to get a new one," I meant that it took my car getting hit to get a new valance on it, not it's a shitty way for you to get a new valance. :D
I'll let you know about all that stuff when I take it to the shop.
manticore33 06-10-2005, 09:29 PM Ok thanks. If you want a sportier new look, an OEM S4 bumper would fit nicely. ;)
FROADER 06-11-2005, 01:30 AM Ya i'm going to try and see if they can put an S4 bumper on there instead, but since it's going through insurance i doubt it.
Stic-o 06-11-2005, 01:37 AM Ya i'm going to try and see if they can put an S4 bumper on there instead, but since it's going through insurance i doubt it.
Sometime there is not much differance in cost for the Parts. My dad use to have a F-150 and it got hit in the front. He had them put a factory Harley Davison grille, sence they were the same cost from Ford.
Sorry to here on the Audi though. Why did you get a rental? Should have had them pay you for a rental why you drove the Ex for a few days :D
FROADER 06-11-2005, 01:42 AM The rental is free and get's better gas mileage than the Ex. I drive too far for the Ex to be a daily driver with the 11-13 mpg it gets.
When i actually take the Audi into the shop, I'm goingt o see if I can get a different rental though. I really don't like driving this POS.

Welcome to my Jungle! It sucks driving the Ex as a DD. I only get 11-12 :(
FROADER 06-11-2005, 08:25 PM My old one was my daily driver for 3.5 years.
Just spotted this thread Colin...man that sucks!
So, did you use Quizno's trays? :p
FROADER 06-12-2005, 09:31 PM no, but I will since it was their fault...
Stic-o 06-12-2005, 10:00 PM no, but I will since it was their fault...
You'll have to change there slogan to..
"mmmm...Crunchy!" :p
FROADER 06-15-2005, 11:12 AM I finally got to take my car the the shop and start the repairs yesterday. Took it to a shop the insurance recommended (I have heard all good things about them) and the estimate there was $2500.
Oh and I'm getting an S4 bumper on it now too. SWEET!
Niiiiice
That's about how much it was to repair my Chevy when I got rear ended. I had to pay a $500 deductable which I am still waiting for reimbursment on since I wasn't at fault
Good thing you got the Ex to get you around though huh :D
FROADER 06-15-2005, 08:16 PM I had a Chrylser Pacifica rental. I'm driving the Ex and a Nissan Sentra now. That poor car is going to have flat spots in the rear tires when i'm done with it.
...That poor car is going to have flat spots in the rear tires when i'm done with it.
Pics please :D On second thought, maybe you better not have evidence of that!
FROADER 06-28-2005, 12:39 AM I got my car back and it looks great. No S4 bumper though. Since the brackets/braces are different they couldn't get them paid for through insurance. The price for me just for parts and at the shop's cost was $540. Needless to say I stuck with the stock bumper. The whole front half of my car has brand new paint on it now.
manticore33, sorry the grills and lower valence got thrashed when they took it off.
410Fortune 06-28-2005, 10:39 AM You had to settle for a stock bumper and you had the S4 one attached before the accident? = LAME.
But you got the car back = chop the Explorer :)
come on, its hot outside....
FROADER 06-28-2005, 10:42 AM No I had the stock bumper before. I tried to get the S4 bumper from the body shop, but the insurance wouldn't cover it since it was different brackets and braces.
