I have a 93 with 31's and want to buy some BFG MT but the tire guy at Costco told me they work good in mud but they don't work good in soft sand and that's what I want them for he said AT will work better I would rather have MT because they look nice if anyone has MT and used them in soft sand let me know what you think about them.

Your tire guy is right; mud tires suck in sand. They will dig down fast and not float on top. AT's are good. I run 31 BFG AT's with about 15 pounds of air pressure at the beach. The low pressure give the tires a bigger footprint, which means less weight per square inch of contact area. I've tried running directional mud tires backward in sand with some success, so you can get the best of both worlds if you really want the looks of mud tires.
