Well Alllllrighty Then! It may be "old news" but some people including myself may have not known that information.
Is this change supposed to affect the existing product line or will it be the same tires with a Michelin name?

just a note, Michelin NA, for whom I work for here in S.C. has owned BFGoodrich for about 10 years now and their tires will still be sold under the BFGoodrich name and continue to be sold under that name. Michelin NA is headquartered in Greenville,S.C. and they also own Uniroyal tires also.

Another interesting factoid:

The BFGoodrich KO 31x10.5x15 tires go for $99.99 each around here in SC, the EXACT same price as for the supercrappy Firestone OEM 235s. Wish I had known that. (dammit!)

BFgoodrich still has there same designers they just have a new company givin them money to produce the product. As long as the BFG radial all-terrain T/A does not changeI am happy...

hey richard ill second that, im in NC wheres the hookup wagon so i can jump on i need some BFG muds 33 12.50 15 hehehe what is that well paid stuff? 20- 30% discount? ownership info was new to me.

Wish i could hookup friends with tires, they give us an allowance amount every 5 years that we are allowed to spend on tires for our registered cars before they start charging us for them,--for my fellow carolinian let me know if you ever want to get together to go 4 wheelin, i think we can probably find a good spot to meet at somewhere in btween all of us. I know Fort Jackson has some great tank trails we could possiby use sometime and i think it would be an easy access for all of us.
As for the BFG story they are all the same designers, techs., and workers as has been but yes Michelin does own them(love the French)and has for about 10 years when all the major tire companies were shuffeling to buy up the smaller one to grab more of the market shares. As for our line of supreme tires go, it is Michelin#1,Uniroyal#2, and BFG#3 in our price line even though that not always the order of loyalty, its in quality of rubber and longevity.

So, do you think Michelen offers the best quality, quietest, longest treadwear, best all around performing tire for highway use? I had M's on my 93EB and loved them. I now have BFG's on my 96 and hate them...VERY noisy on the highway, especially concrete surfaces. Does that make sense on the BFG's?

Michelin does use better quality in their own tires, not saying that BFG's aren't good tires, but Michelin does mean for their tires to outlast the others with harder compounds,and then Uniroyal. Michelin may not have the best grip off road but their highway design can't really be compared;(as to the rougher ride and more noise with the BFG's). Goodrich has had a better offroad design and will continue to have it because that is not the primary concern with Michelin.
Michelin put their quality first rather than their customer sometimes. When all other brands were making white letter tires in the late 60's michelin would not because they said it took away from the life off the tire and it wasn't until the mid 70,s did they start producing them because off the demand and the ability to make $$$$$.
