I will soon be undertaking the task of replacing both valve cover gaskets and the intake manifold gaskets. I have a 91 with 125K miles with no other engine problems. I have changed these on other vehicles but not the explorer. Has anybody done these that can tell me if there is anything I should be extra carefull about? And also if there are other things that I should check or replace while I have these off?

Thanks
Dan

Why are you doing this? Do you have an oil leak or a coolant leak? Just curious - my '91 has 142,000 miles and has a slight oil leak but it's coming from the rear main oil seal.

Dan,
Replacing the gaskets is a very straight forward job, I have done mine a couple times because of different engine modifications and have never had any problems.

Pete, It's an oil leak. I had the rear main recently fixed while the trans was out. And these look to be the last leaks left to fix. I've been putting it off because it's not that bad. Yet.... Dan
