Does anyone wanna get a fall run together? Or will it be difficult due to everyone going back to school? If people want too, I cant do some research for some legal trails up here in VT.

I would love to, but I'm going to be pretty darn busy through November. The NEA4WDC sponsors "fall crawl," which is supposed to be a fun event with trails for stockers.

Let me find out more info on it, and joining up.

I'm going to try and look into getting into Groton State Forest in Groton, VT. Probably not huge for wheeling, but it's a large location for camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, etc. I know it's not free, but not expensive to camp there, though I haven't gone in a few years. Basically you can reserve a leanto, basic campsite for a tent, or in some cases a cabin, though the only ones I saw long ago were pretty sad looking, as if the only full-time occupants were insects and porcupines. I remember on Osmore Pond where I last stayed there are 3 leanto sites, a parking area and picnic shelter, and a family of loons. There was a hiking trail circling the pond to the camps, but we took most of our supplies in by canoe. Unlike saltwater fishing in MA, fishing in VT requires a permit. I didn't fish Osgood for long, but I caught a 13" brown trout, and there are lots more fish in the other ponds and lakes. There are also many many hiking trails and mountains to explore. Let's find out what dates people are available, as this is ideally a 2 day minimum affair.

Columbus Day weekend anyone? Or possibly before?

Hey Ike, is it me, or do a lot of the New England states have the same names for towns? Groton......towns in Massachussetts, Vermont and Connecticut

Sounds like a fun trip but with my oldest girl in college and having a Saturday class, I have to keep my Saturdays open until next semester so she has a ride to school, since there are no buses that run to her school on Saturday. I can't wait for her first semster to be over, then she can choose her classes online before new students come in and get the classes she wants. She doesn't really like the Saturday class but that's all that was available for drawing class. At least she will be on break when it's time for my vacation :)

Ok... You twisted my arm... I'm in... I just need to regear before Travelling up north as hills make if difficult to maintain speed... Wheeling, camping, Wheeling, hiking, canoeing, and wheeling would be fun :D

OK, well fyi...just so you all know...I promise no wheeling right now if we go to the state park. I know of zero trails in that area, but I'll see if I can find any. First off, though, we need to all nail down a date.

I assume this is our new photographer. Welcome. It was a pleasure having you on the cape. :)

Please email your moose pics to izackary@yahoo.com

I'll see if my dad wants to come, as well once we nail a date down. Otherwise maybe borrow his canoe, too. Fishing licenses for non-residents can be purchased at the nearby grill/general store for $15, $20, and $30 for 1-, 3-, and 7-day permits respectively. Permit fees. (http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/licenses.cfm) Hope to see folks there!

Its looking like a fall run to Gronton will not be happening. Alot of people have different things going on. I know Aaron is very busy at college and with some other things. I also have to work twice as hard at work due to all the college kids going back to school and wanting there high speed internet & cable tv.

Sorry....i've been going thru a busy time. Since the Cape trip, I've helped Ezra move into college in Manchester, NH, spent 4 days in Indianapolis for work including the weekend. My first day off in 12 days happens to also be the day my mom gets remarried, just this past Saturday. Not only that, but my other brother, Amos (21), and his wife of a year and a half announced they're expecting a baby! I'll be an unc around May of next year! Mom will have her first grandkid, which she said was the greatest wedding gift ever. Not to mention I'm between staying in Mass or moving to VT....girl problems which I'm healing from.... Anyways, lots is going on here, too. As for Groton, there doesn't seem to be much interest that can be followed up on. Since this is a Fall RUN thread, though, does anyone have any alternate suggestions?

LOL Matt. Took Comcast two days to get the Internet up and running. First thing was that both brand new routers were dead, and then the main computer that everything was to be installed on had a virus, so they couldn't get a signal. So they came back in the morning, after I did a hard restore to my roommate's computer to get rid of the virus. Then they find out we can't hook up wirelessly because someone around us has a wireless connection that is very strong and it's draining our signal. So when all things were said and done, they ended up running Cat 5 cables to my brother's and my computer in order for us to connect.

Damn man you have been busy. I hope your mom's wedding day was wonderful. I hope I get to meet her sometime, because if she is as funny and as nice as you are, we'll hit it right off. Congrats on becoming an uncle, I'll bet you are really excited.

The Groton run sounded like alot of fun, and you know I have a daughter in college, but I found out that she is giving up her Saturday class to move into a Tuesday/Thursday class, which there wasn't a spot open when she registered, which means my Saturdays are free again. I would love to get together with you guys again and before next year's Jamboree, because that is already in my plans for next year.

Well, here it is 3:15 in the morning and I need to be up at 7 AM for work. I really hate it when I have trouble sleeping, because if I was tired, I'd be dozing at the computer.....I've done it many times before. So I really should end this post and say good night. Take care, ok?

Oops almost forgot, I've been working the past couple of days on a logo for our club. Matt asked me about this sometime ago, but it wasn't until yesterday that the most logical idea for the logo came to my mind. Just have to finish a few things and then I'll post it for you to see

Edited to add: Just found out from my daughter today that she was unable to switch her class because the time for adding or switching classes is over. I'm back in the same situation I was before. :(

Hey guys, Maybe I could check into something near where I live! We have some trails in Proctor, I know some guys whose property, run a get together for all kinds of 4X4s around Easter. I could talk to them and see if they want to do anything! Later - Nate

Hey folks, I talked to the guys and they actually have stopped using their property for wheeling. They said that the State Police was hammering down on them, due to them wheeling on parts of the Powerlines. I guess to many people have gotten ticketed and towed for doing so. So needless to say I'm checking into areas around my family camp in Mendon. Perhaps I can talk to some of the people around there and see if we can wheel on parts of their property! Later - Nate

Working two jobs and going to school full time sucks!

I don't have Columbus Day off......only state and some federal employees and schools have it off

I agree working two jobs and going to school full time sucks......how do you manage without going crazy? I work one job, I have two kids and I'm seriously stressed, my doctor says try not to let stuff in work or at home get me stressed, also not to worry so much about others and more about me (that's easier said than done)......I'm the type that worries about those I care about, whether friends or family. The last thing he said is I needed a vacation to get away from most of the stress, well, I'm going on vacation in December, but my girls are coming with me.

Hi folks, I guess I am going to be the bearer of bad news! I contacted some of the people around my camp and they said that they really don't want anyone around their camps during hunting season. Mostly due to not wanting any responsibilty if something happens to anyone. That and some areas where I have been able to wheel, posted signs are being posted. I actually was confronted by someone I knew who didn't mind that I was up near his property, but didn't want anyone else up there. So I am sorry I couldn't be of much help for hosting a fall run, but I must respect the wishes of the people who don't want anyone on their property.
