View Full Version : Oom12
Howard 11-13-2005, 03:39 PM Just done the OOM12 modification. Sorry didn't take any pics. The work is already documented. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61152&page=2&pp=20&highlight=oom12+ford . The only fun I had was that on ours the wiper motor is in a different place and gets in the way of lifting the upper inlet manifold from the erg tube. But with a struggle it came free. The old 'O' rings were as hard as nails so no wonder they leaked. The chain is nice and quiet now too.

Howard 11-09-2006, 01:15 PM To be honest a friend on the board got them for me from the good old USA. I can get you a kit too, but the funny thing is they are made in Italy. :D This is the part # YL2Z-9E473-AA. You can get them over here for about £50.
shytot4x4 11-09-2006, 05:49 PM The thermostat that was unavailable in the UK and I had to import from the US was made in Germany.
Actually, I believe that the SOHC 4.0 V6 engines were built in Germany and shipped over to the USA.
And it probably won't be too long before they're being built in China...

spacemonkeypg 11-10-2006, 01:44 PM i pass the Ford factory alot when driving My truck in europe. Often wondered if its worth popping in and seeing if i they sell parts over the counter there as i'm sure it would be dirt cheap..... I nearly bobbed in on Wednesday on my way back from a trip to Padova in Italy but was chasing my arse to get the boat so didn't have enough time.
UK Explorer 11-12-2006, 12:32 PM I can get you a kit too,
I think I may need this, mine seems to be rattling a lot

sicnarf 11-13-2006, 06:08 AM What are the sort of problems fitting this kit might cure?
Reading above posts I notice it says the chains are quieter, I have a rattly chain on start up.
Will this make that any quieter?
Roughly how much would it cost to get this kit put on the car as I can't do it myself?
Thanks
Rob

Short answer is no - we don't!! Not even to employees. You'd just get yourself pointed at the nearest dealership none too politely!
