For the past two weeks I have been looking for a V8 to test drive in my area, as I just want to see what a V8 4.6 has compared to the V6 4.0. Something around a 2002. The newspaper did not show anything in my area, so I asked a few dealers if they see something to give me a ring. Yesterday I had some time to see what explorers were actually on the lots in my area.

The last place I checked before heading home happen to just get in a 2002 V8 Limited. Took it out for a run and pretty much fell in love with it. The asking price is 15K and it has 65,000 mi on it.

Would it be worthwhile buying a used explorer with that many miles?

Careful about scoring a 2002. That was the first year of the "3rd Generation" of Explorers and there were quite a few issues with the '02. To me it's never wise to get a vehicle in the first year of a redesign. The '02 was a major redesign for the Explorer.

I'd dig into the track record of it before I made a move on it.

I received a clean carfax report.

Puzzling that there are no recalls on it. None shown at all.
Think this is due to being a Limited?
