i have a 97 explorer AWD, now i heard that the biggest size tire my truck could handle without a lift is 31's.
but my ???? is does AWD have an effect on wut type of rim or tire i have to select. i was looking in a explorer magazine and the rims they had for the truck was rwd or 4wd nothin for awd
help please

They use the same wheels. The AWD suspension is exactly the same as the 4x4.

the biggest size that will fit is 31x10.50's you can get whatever wheels you want as long as you pay attention to backspacing and wheel width.... I have 31x10.50's on right now on my factory wheels and they will rub the mudflaps occasionally at full lock.... any wheel with 5x4.5 bolt pattern and i believe 4 inches of backspacing will work.. Be aware that all the tires have to be the exact same brand and the exact same size.... You cant just replace two at a time... Also this will make your spare almost useless other than in a dire emergency....

AWD 4wd have no different on the mouting surfaces or such to inhibit the wheel. You can run any wheel that a 4wd Explorer could run.
